Me 3, I test drove the Realm and it was a very close thing between that and the Westfield XI that I did build. But it is still an itch that I want to scratch.

Me too! Really want to see some build photos of that thing. Any chance you could post some on this thread?

Here are the majority of the pics from collection in April 2009 to completion last weekend.

My father and I put approx 5 or 6 hours a week into it so not full time by any stretch.

Its not a six figure all aluminium tool room copy, but it sounds the same, goes the same and suits my modest budget.

Enjoy:

Nice looking job, well done, and thanks! That's a Realm then? All that for 16k seems good. I though the kits would run to 11 or 12...

Yep its a Realm. We bought the chassis and body from Adrian (along with a few other kit specific parts like the grille etc) and then sourced everything else ourselves.

It proved time consuming and a lot of running around but it did save money. I haven't dared to add up what it must owe in labour!

Whatever it ended up costing it was well worth it. An absolute beauty!

Stupid question (not very mechanically minded) - where did the engine come from?

Thanks for sharing your photographs. What an excellent build, I love the simplicity of the car underneath, yet it looks so beautiful. Good work!

Thanks very much.

The engine is a 4.2 Jaguar straight six taken from an XJ6

The originals ran 3.4's but capacity aside the engine is basically what they would have used.

Estimating 5 hours a week it adds up to roughly 300 in total.

It is not a kit . I made the body and most of the other bits ( bar grill , headlamp lenses and hinges ) came from ebay.
