Date of photo unknown, but this one appears to be a 3 Litre GXL with most likely a V-8 conversion.
Note the cut away rear arches, huge rear wheels and “ Thrush “ side pipes.

I recall the name Reynolds Ford, but never went to any of their branches. I think they closed down in the 1980s.

Sorry for dredging up an old post but I thought you might like to see what showed up at Castle Coombe a week or so back. Being given a shakedown by none other than Jeremy Walton.

I have a book about the Capri from Jeremy Walton at the time he was the expert on all Capri info , I think he used to work for Ford and got to race them at quite a high level then became a journalist ?
I had 2 of his Capri books, they disappeared in Divorce, I must replace them, have you a photo of it ?
Pretty sure he was already a Journo by 1972. He was one of the 32 drivers in 16 identical new black 3000E Capris in the May 1972 Brands Hatch FordSports day races. Racking my brain who he shared a car with.
There is a photo of this race in one of his books. It was reading this, that I decided to track down and buy, any of the survivors ( just one car has survived )

Is see this is the PKT car that was being discussed earlier they have listed it for £26,500 no engine total resto. He’s also got a standard 3 door Sierra cosworth listed at £50k so he’s clearly not afraid of asking crazy money for old Fords

So many collector car market experts on here.....
That gorgeous low miles black Sierra RS Cosworth sold for the full asking price.....

I have very vague recollections of one of the car mags (Hot Car or CCC?) doing a feature on a Sebring red 'cologne' arched Mk.1 Capri back in the day (78-80ish?) - but whether it was that one or not I have no idea.
I think you are right, someone else suggested that it may have been featured in Hot Car.

This RS3100 was supplied new by the famous “ Endevour Motor co “ of Brighton Sussex, one of at least 6 that they sold new.
A fellow garage owning pal, tells me an “interesting” story about this car, when he bought it in for stock, in 1976.

Has anyone a photo of another RCD registered RS3100 ??

No one said there wouldn't be an idiot willing to pay his extortionate prices - just because most people in here haven't taken leave of their senses don't let it deflate you.
Yet another “ resident collector car market expert “ on here.

The SuperSpeed V8 GXL is coming up @ auction soon. Anyone’s guess what it will be bid to. But what a shame that it’s not been restored to how it originally looked in the early 1980s.
I used to regularly see this car and it parked alongside my 3000GT one day @ High Beach.

How it looked in the early 80s, so much better. Huge 5700 V-8 RS decals on both rear 1/4s, a genuine RS3100 duck tail spoiler and those alloys and the large cut out in the front panel.

Saw this lovely mk1 3.0 GT manual the other day at one of the garages I use …
One owner from new
Never painted or welded original paint
M reg
Loads of period upgrades - diff, sports seats, suspension, carb.

Apparently been offered £60k plus but has no plans to sell as owned since new.

This is a really scarce Capri ! Few facelift 3 Litre GTs ( large rectangular headlights ) were sold, due to buyers preferring the GXLs twin round headlights. I’ve not seen this one before, wonder how many other MK1,3 Litre cars are out there but not on the radar. I do know of a Daytona yellow facelift GT 4 speed car which I discovered a year or so ago, it’s been stored since the 1980s and that I agreed to buy, I must chase it up.

I agree about the MK1 facelift; my favourite has always been the 3.0 GXL, probably because one of my teachers bought one (new) of the first ones.
He must have been a £ well paid teacher !
One of my teachers Mr. Munt, had a dk blue mini van, another had a pale blue Viva, H registered from memory.
