MK1 3 Litre Capris, How Many Survive ?
Discussion
BHK 571X. Early Graphite-grey over silver 2.8i.
The actual Ford press-car tested by Hot Car magazine Sept or Oct 1981. Totally-standard but for Ford-fitted alloy rocker covers.
Would be interested to hear if anyone remembers anything about it as I once owned it in the 1990s.
Car scrapped / broken-up mid 90s after I sold it to a "Capri enthusiast" for something like £200. Required thorough mechanical overhaul (160K miles) and tidy-up of bit scruffy but still very solid body. Car was still being driven daily and MOT'd, but ongoing work was more than I could do at the time on an old Capri under my circumstances. These days it would be quickly restored "as new" and advertised as "part of Capri-heritage" with a 5-figure price.
Wish I'd just parked it in a shed for 20 years. Ex 70s-magazine-tested RS2000s make mega money now.
But, hey.
I'd find any further info or threads anyone has on this interesting.
Thanks.

Hi neutral 3, your right it would be great to hear more 3 litre Capri stories this one is not quite 3000cc but I have bought another Mk1 V6 Capri since I last contributed to this thread I now own a second RS2600 this one should be Monza Blue ( as my other car) but with a satin black bonnet /engine bay etc ,It is a 1972 pre facelift version so there are a number of changes ie chrome quarter bumpers all round, earlier style 6 inch RS alloys, Escort Mk1 rear lamps etc etc.
This car was imported in 1987 and has done less than 2000kms since it was in France earlier that year, current mileage is 62,000.
As can be seen needs restoring but a really solid car hopefully make a start soon just another couple of projects to finish first.

I've always prefered the early RS26's. Will look fab back in Monza blue with the black bonnet.
Still got it's lovely Scheel seats as well.
Needs a Springalex steering wheel to replace that ghastly 70's aftermarket thing.
Hi aeropilot, it would have come with either a Capri GT 3 spoke as per any pre facelift GT Capri or springalex I have since obtained the latter, It should also have chrome number plate lamps which I have also found.
One thing I am really struggling to find is a pre facelift crash pad LHD without cracks dont care what colour it is as I can sort that can anyone help ?????
I am looking forward to restoring this car but personally prefer the facelift every day, guess that's why I have owned one for the last 16 years.

I suppose for me it's the fact that the later facelift 2600's look too similar to the RS3100's.That's why I love the early cars, in lwt form with no 1/4 bumpers etc.
Love this one in Maize Yellow
One of each would be nice of course, an early RS26 and a RS31
