I have a mk1 3ltr,unfortunately the engine is originally from an A series truck so L/C and ste to be honest,it`s so poor its actually better with the original single choke Solex carb that it came with than the capri set up.
My brother ran the original with no oil.
In 1994 I salvaged around 90% of a Swaymar 3.2 bottom end with what are supposed to be genuine RS heads and a triple weber manifold, minus carbs from a ski boat of all places.
I was intending to fit it to the mk1,that year!!
Again unfortunately due to other projects,Mondeo,V8 capri(MK3)various bikes, house, kids etc. it has rested in my barn for nearly fifteen years now untouched.
As it was the last car my brother owned while in England,a gypsy at heart,he committed suicide in Bulgaria.
I could never bring myself to do anything with it,it`s mechanical condition is remarkably good considering he had delusions of being Bodie and Doylesmile.
the body is all good apart from a small crease in the rear panel between the bumper and the light and the usual small rust areas here and there, although the top of the drivers door, which was replaced while nearly new has gone through completely and the front bumper has been cut to replicate corner bumpers but it does have genuine RS 2 up 2 down light brackets, with smashed ring spot lightshehe from when my brother drove up some cheapo ramps straight into the back of the old mans new Granada!biglaugh

I tried to add to the post the 2 photos I have on my laptop but computer says "NO",
windows can not find the path to the original, whatever that means???
I can see them on my screen but cannot send, print or move them anywhere.
Some others show the same, while others work perfectly, any ideas?

After asking around it seems my pictures are forever imprisoned and that`s the end of it,
Unless anyone knows how to retrieve the original pictures from a 10/15 year old ide pc hard drive that spent 4 hours in flood water 2 years ago.
my barn is some 35 or so miles away and I don`t usually take a camera but will try to remember for my next trip which will be early September to get my dads old tractors out for Barleylands.
I do have a polaroid of the arse end of the Capri sticking out from behind my dads old Thames trader minibus but it will be next September by the time I work out how to scan, enlarge and post it at the rate of success I`m having at the moment.
I remembered today that it has MOG on the number plate if that rings a bell with anyone.
It is red now but was white once and originally yellow.

Why not screenshot when you can see them on your screen?

It lets me do nothing with them at all,it starts as if it`s going to do something then stops.

funnily enough, just last week I was chatting to a local bodyshop guy who specialises in classics and particularly Jaguars. The thing is, he said to me that he's currently bringing a mk1 back from the U.S.
Are they really that rare ?

How much, for that........yikes

Gotta laugh rofl

On the basis on the piss-poor photos, it looks like it could be a genuine RS31.....but it needs a lot of work.
Shame they've painted over the rear ducktail frown

I noticed the Olympic Blue around the door edge and shutlines, and thought that, but it seems strange not to paint that, but paint all the under bonnet areas yellow as well, so I'm not sure whether it is a colour change or not?

Daytona Yellow is the most numerous colour for a RS31 IIRC, or at least about equal with Sebring Red, whereas Olympic Blue is one of the rarer colours, so you'd be mental to change colour from Olympic Blue to yellow.

Its worth 2.5K.

Its a 4 cycl shell so not a genuine RS3100.

Waste of money at anything over £1500.

V6 shells have triangular strengthening on the bulkhead corners and the strut top plates.

Always avoid checking strut top plates as they are often plated so look correct.

If you google RS3100 engine bays and look in each corner you will see them.

Its POO

Good spot.

I struggled to see them missing, even after you mentioned it laugh

Missing strut top plates are easier to see though.

If the VIN plates are OK, it could have been a real RS31 that has been reshelled with a decent condtion 4 cyl shell, but you'd do the plates etc., if doing it properly, so likely a quick bodge job, or worse, a ringer.

So much wrong with that one.

I would put money the wings are fibreglass looking at the rails and the way the valence is falling off.

Seats are wrong also I reckon.

Given that a re-shelled RS3100 ( in a 4 cyl shell) sold approx 3 years ago for 23k rightly or wrongly I would imagine that this car is worth considerably more than 2.5k in fact I would not be surprised if chassis plates and log book for a RS3100 could easily make 2.5k.
This car STR 366N was originally an Olympic Blue RS3100 but in my opinion has been re-shelled possibly twice, with regard to the colour the most common colours are Sebring Red and Diamond White followed by Daytona Yellow.
Olympic Blue, Stardust Silver and Modena Green are all similar build numbers with Marine Blue being the rarest by far.
