Hi Shoehorn, my barn is some 35 or so miles away and I don`t usually take a camera but will try to remember for my next trip which will be early September to get my dads old tractors out for Barleylands.
What old tractors? as well as 3 RS Capri's I have 6 old tractors
RScapriman.
I`m not great on tractors but I believe one is a Nuffield, orange thing. What old tractors? as well as 3 RS Capri's I have 6 old tractors

One is a Ford Major(his mate also keeps one there that is apparently a very early model, although it has odd front wheels,a 3 and a 4 spoke)
A Fordson Super Major 5000 with period bucket and shovel, which my dad used to dig and pull out a big tree from our garden and dug our patio and drive with it.
The builders were impressed,it pissed all over their toy and rescued it from the mud half a dozen times.
And a couple of running Fergies, one with row-cropper(SP)?wheels and tyres, and several in bits, one of which I learnt to drive on,oh the joys of hand throttle.
There is an old 1.5 ton dumper from the sixties coplete with morris minor gearbox as well undergoing restoration.
And my cousin has a couple of those little Ransome tracked things,he looks like a dog in a cat basket all 25 or so stone of himbut they do have some grunt for their size.
The guy with a small-holding up the lane has a couple of Nuffields and one of those with the big funnel exhaust and narrow front end,I cant remember what they are called but you will know what I mean.

Given that a re-shelled RS3100 ( in a 4 cyl shell) sold approx 3 years ago for 23k rightly or wrongly I would imagine that this car is worth considerably more than 2.5k in fact I would not be surprised if chassis plates and log book for a RS3100 could easily make 2.5k.
This car STR 366N was originally an Olympic Blue RS3100 but in my opinion has been re-shelled possibly twice, with regard to the colour the most common colours are Sebring Red and Diamond White followed by Daytona Yellow.
Olympic Blue, Stardust Silver and Modena Green are all similar build numbers with Marine Blue being the rarest by far.

I Remember this car STR366N, from the early/mid 80's, it was olympic blue with a webasto sunroof. Could have bought it at the time for £1000, but bought a Marine blue one instead for £600 This car STR 366N was originally an Olympic Blue RS3100 but in my opinion has been re-shelled possibly twice, with regard to the colour the most common colours are Sebring Red and Diamond White followed by Daytona Yellow.

Pretty much all this car is though Len ????
Where is the RS3100 ?? It is little more than the chassis plates.

Excluding the wheels and seats and obviously the fact that it had been restored where is the RS3100 in the car that sold for 23k, I think you will find that STR has all the RS running gear inc engine so the fact of the matter is when this car is restored it will almost certainly fetch around 20k.
I know of several RS3100's that have been reshelled and I am certainly not saying that I agree with it although I can see why it has been done, they will never be worth what an original is worth but they still command a decent premium.
So to sum it all up this particular car is worth a lot more than 2.5k and he will certainly get it.

Hi..
After having a few Mk2 Escorts, at the back of my mind I really want to get back into another classic Ford, although I think it would have to be running some sort of modern engine and with a civilised interio etc.. A Mk1/Mk2 Escort or Mk1 Capri are top of the list, but whenever something possibly becomes available, the interior is almost always stripped and caged. Not what I want! Anyway:
I Can't remember if I've already asked on this thread yet, but I am looking for some photos of a Mk1 that I had on an old computer but since lost.
I doubt it was an RS; it was in an orange/bronze metallic type colour with the Cologne bodykit/arches. I believe it was running a YB motor and had polished 'BBS style' cross-spoke wheels.
I am fairly sure it did a few shows around 2004-5 time but I can't find anything of it online now.
Anyone know it? Cheers.

If anyone knows where 3000GXL BTC 440L is, that is my Dad's car and I am desperate to buy and restore it.
Soov Are you sure that's the reg, DVLA says it hasn't been taxed since august 1985, but it was a 1600!!!!!!!!This GXL here in NZ has just been listed http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/ford/auc... but is £12500 too much?? Probably is for me though
I previously linked a Capri on 30 May 2012 but that link is now dead but I'm guessing this is a different car to that one.
Is £12500 money in the bank on this car? Is it worth exporting to the UK yet??

It looks stunning, I love it, two things however, the exhausts are incorrect and they did not have a slide and tilt sunroof.
The sunroof may be a NZ thing,
Yup, exhausts are wrong, but, the sunroof was indeed a factory option on late production GXL's.The sunroof may be a NZ thing,
Back in the late 80's a mate of mine owned a mint, low miles, Sebring Red 3.0 GXL with a factory tilt-slide sunroof, and he later found a basket case sebring red RS3100 that he re-shelled using the mint GXL shell (but retaining the sunroof).
I believe this car is still around.

Much as I respect you and your knowledge
I expect we both know that that RS if inspected should be on a Q plate
Part Points
Chassis, monocoque bodyshell (body and chassis as one unit) or frame - original or new and unmodified* 5
Suspension (front and back) - original 2
Axles (both) - original 2
Transmission - original 2
Steering assembly - original 2
Engine - original 1
On the points system I would put money down it would fail a DVLA type inspection by your good self.
don't get me wrong I am sure many old cars would,

Hi Stuntmanmike/ Aeropilot, that is a nice looking GXL you are correct the exhaust system is not correct but the sunroof is although it would not have been a tilt slide sunroof only sliding the tilt/sliding sunroof came out on the Mk2 although never tried it but I reckon the mechanism would fit into a Mk1 making a very discreet mod.

Hi Standardman, that may well be the case but what Reg it could/should be on was never the debate it was the value of the vehicle.Much as I respect you and your knowledge

I know of an RS3100 ????? that would probably score 0 on the points system it literally is a log book and tag plates( an identity) it was built as a replica then sold as a replica then out of the blue became an RS3100 wearing an originals Reg No and Chassis Plates.
Now should the owner of this car ever sell it I am positive he would be honest enough to disclose what he knows, however I would not be surprised if he still got close to 20k for it simply because of the condition.
I personally would not want to own a car that I knew had been reshelled but I could name possibly 10 or more RS3100's that have been and I have made perfectly clear to owners of these cars that if they ever sell them to be up front about it simply because if anyone ever contacted me regarding these cars I would tell them everything I know.
Sadly with these older cars it is not rocket science to create a really convincing example even changing a 4 cyl shell to a V6 look a like is not a massive task, Chassis Plates are available, you can buy the top plates stamped ( on e-bay), at one point you had to prove you were the owner of the vehicle to obtain such items I believe this is no longer the case.
My advice to anyone that is interested in buying any car of this sort of value is do as much homework as you can, always contact the relevant owners club if necessary pay the representative to view the car with you as you may well save yourself a lot of expense and heartache.
