No wonder it didn't sell with an description as dull as that. I saw a Red one in Maldon a few times early this year, so guessing it's the same Capri.

But £35,000.....As much as I love 3 Litre Capris, £35,000 buys a 3.0CSL, which is a far faster, better handling, better equipped car......

It buys you a really ropey CSL that needs 20-30k spending on it! Otherwise I would agree!

Hi Michael, no never sold back on e-bay now starting at £20,500 with a reserve and a bid, I have known of this cars existance for many years Legacywr but have never seen it in the flesh.
Guys you may not agree that there are worth this sort of money but I am afraid they are selling for 30k plus, I have always thought that this time of year was never the best to try to sell a car however I guess this particular model is very difficult to buy they rarely come up for sale, indeed I get several calls re people wanting to buy particularly an A1 example.
I have to agree with neutral3 the ad was very sparse I think i would have been a tad more descriptive but I guess anyone seriously interested would have already done their homework on these cars and would be making the effort to travel to view it.

I remember when my dad got his 3000E capri in 73 it was lime green with a black vinyl roof and all green material interior. It was a special order for some one high up at fords (warley) i know it sounds bad but that car was stunning. From then on all i wanted was a capri. When i passed my test a week or so after my 17th birthday i bought my first 3000E capri, that was replaced with a 3000GT then came two 2.8 injections and finally a Tickford Capri.

RScapriman, Im not a particular fan Capris but happened to have a look at this thread and noticed that 3.1 on Ebay, Im almost certain that car belonged to one of my school teachers back in the seventies, IIRC he also had a yellow 2.6 but cant remember was that before or after the 3.1. This was up in the North of Scotland and Ive still never seen another 3.1 or 2.6 since.

May well be buddy, when I first heard of the car it was in Scotland then owned by a fellow called Ewen Macrae who I believe emigrated to Australia taking a black 3000S Capri with him, this would be early 90's.
As far as I am aware it spent most of it's life up there before coming south not too many years ago.

I would have thought it a whole lot easier to buy a Mk1 escort unless you are after a twin cam or RS1600 than to buy a RS Capri

rscapriman, that would pretty much confirm its the same car, there couldnt have been many around even in the seventies and certainly not in the North of Scotland. Its a 74 car,I left school in 75 at age 16, the teacher who owned it could only have been early thirties, if he walked past me now I would still know him but cant remember his name but it cmay have been McRae he was from the West Highlands.

Well, this one has just ended on the bay of evil......£38k is stupid money for a 'concours' car that would lose a shed load of point for having the wrong front panel fitted.

Yeah, owner must be laughing all the way to the bank with that silly winning bid - fair play, though.

I would have been surprised if that had reached 30k, let alone 38k!

One too many little oddities on that car for me for it to be a top money RS2.
