Nicanary - There is a family conection so contact is not an issue. The lorry was my father's, just parked at the farm when he stopped racing. It carried an Allard and a C-Type at different times. It was parked up in 71 or 72 (after returning from Crystal Palace) and to my knowledge has not moved since. I have memories of sleeping in a hammock above the car whilst en-route from Somerset to various tracks through the night. It is in poor cosmetic condition - half of the roof covering has gone, but the chassis is good and the engine would certainly run with a bit of fiddling - on 4 star!. The body is ally so is sound and the basic frame is still good. It even has a Gold Leaf Team Lotus sticker on the quarterlight I stuck there in the late 60s! As an aside, it was good to see the Ecurie Ecosse truck at Goodwood -I remember playing in it with Nigel Corner and Ron Fry's son during that period. PM me for more details if interested.
I have searched the Home Page but can't find a link for PMs. I must point out that I am to modern technology what Eddie the Eagle was to winter sports.

Any chance you could let me know when your dad got the Commer, and from whom? Apologies to members and moderators for using this thread as personal e-mail.

Thanks mate. Now that's what I call tiny print - that'll be a lesson to me for abusing my eyesight for 62 years.

What wonderful memories, the last race meeting for cars at Crystal Palace was held in 1972 I wonder if your Dad took part ?

A camper in the bush is worth...err well....not an awful lot in that state, good spot though.
Depends on the underside. Could still be worth a few grand. They fetch silly money.

That's a late Bay, probably least desirable of the Split/Bay window campers, so not really worth a lot in that condition.

Quite popular and highly rated 'back in the day'. Tail happy, sharply styled. Pulled that 'disappear from the roads overnight with no one noticing' trick, that all Jap coupes seem to do.

Old neighbour of mine ran a lovely one as his p&j for a few years, an '84 on a B plate, I think. Swapped it for a Baur e30 318, swapped that for a divorce...frown

Yup, same engine as fitted to Bluebird Turbos and in n/a form Sunny ZX. IIRC around 174 bhp and somewhat laggy. There was also a n/a 2.0 Twin Cam Silvia S12 fitted with a FJ20 engine, rare as a Carlton Cole hat-trick.

I vividly remember the day I started work at a Nissan dealer in 1987 there was a grey Silvia in the showroom priced at £11K. Lovely.

Had one. Great fun it was too. Onsold it to my son very cheaply. He wrote it off within two weeks, damn him.... Still, very glad he was not hurt, and he learned a valuable lesson about turbo cars.

Saw this last night. Too late for it I suspect!

I thought the truck's number plate was apt!The Jag has been off the road since 1988, and is a March 1977 registered example, so reasonably early.
