Showing as taxed until Jan 2013 on DVLA so hasn`t been there long. Vehicle enquiry says built 1969 and registered 1972 so has something odd in its history, a K reg Vit is a very rare bird.
Doesnt actually mean its taxed though......It'll show as licence not due if its been off the road for a very long time. My Daimler showed the same and was off the road since the mid 70s. For some reason the DVLA record some pre sorn cars this way. One more mystery from the DVLA.

I know I have mentioned it before but is there any news on the Camaro in the lock up ? I ask as I have one in poor condition and am interested in another for parts. It'll show as licence not due if its been off the road for a very long time. Nah, sorry mate, haven't done much (anything)regarding the garages, other things have had my attention. Lotus 72 , Allways wanted to go there , can you keep your eyes open for any Austin Gipsy 4x4s , the Police ( pre 1963 independence ) had them out there and 2 were used to carry supplies up Mt Kenya for the independence day celebrations in Nov 63, this was organised by Gailey and Roberts and was filmed
I'm in Cyprus on holiday, its 42 degrees... too hot to go and look for classic wrecks but this has to be the best read EVER. I have read every post and enjoyed every picture throughout but the one that stands out is Pat and the Tuscan... wow what a story!!!!!! Looking forward to many more posts about it and many more treasured finds on here.. thank you so much for an enjoyable read guys....
Please excuse the lame photography, hard to get a shot through a plate glass window with a camera phone. These belonged to the local garage owner who passed on. They have been in his old showroom for the best part of fifteen years at a guess, from what I can gather, his widow does not want to part with them, but has not been particularly assiduous with the upkeep. I assume she knows what they are worth as her son is in the trade (although not a classic specialist). The Frazer Nash has a flat and looks to be leaking fluids, the BMW 327 looks a bit sounder although the paint on the front wings has deteriorated badly since I looked a year ago. There is something else in there at the back, but not so sporty, and there are a couple of motorbikes too. There must be some heating in the showroom as the windows are steamed up a lot of the time.
Edited to correct BMW model number (I Hope!)

Madmax 2 can you get to Nicosia ? In 95 I went with my ex wife to Cypruss, we took a bus into Nic and not too far from the town on the left hand side of the road was an enormous yard. I went back the following day and the place was simply amazing.
I have photos somewhere, but the stuff in there was incredible , an English registerd FS1 E was remarkable, but there were lots of Rootes cars , inc a Mid 60s Singer Vogue estate a nice Vanguard S3 Estate and Lots more. I'm guessing that Rooted had a good dealer network out there during the 50 s and 60s .
Well worth a look and the yard owner was friendly too !

Madman 2, Cyprus is great for old cars, especially British stuff. There is also a classic motorcycle museum in Nicosia (small thing but quite interesting). When I was over there last summer guy in one of the villas next door had a really nice Rover 2000TC. Most of the stuff was fairly weather beaten though.
I'm currently at the Japanese Grand Prix and can't believe that suddenly there's a pic of that old Rover down the road from where my mother used to live near Beauly. Have to confess that I've driven past it on and off for many years (I still have family in the area). Always thought that it must belong to someone in the cottages across the road. I'd never noticed the suicide doors - I have an Excellence with those, and there's a fellow Facel owner who specialises in cars with suicide doors. It would be nice to see it rescued. I guess the houses across the road is where a rescue would start. My brother reckons there's a barn in nearby Kiltarlity full of old cars, but I couldn't find it when I looked a couple of years ago. Definitely not in need of rescue (and therefore OT) was the ex-Didier Auriol Martini-sponsored Lancia Integrale parked in a garage that I passed this morning on my walk in to work. Still looks very useable. And there were three NSXs outside another garage nearby. However, I must have been the only person in the area without a camera - sorry!
I'm not sure if someone has posted any snaps of this place already..?
Basically, the story goes that this was an old world war 2 US military base in the Belgian Ardennes. When the war ended, the soldiers parked their cars up and hopped on their flights home.
60 years later, this is what remains..
Most of the lumps have been pilfered, and the forest has taken the rest. Incredibly, the chrome details remain as good as new.
Great place.
