I randomly put this in with our lorry thread, but apparently it is a bit rare.

I used to have one of them, in the same colour - with a tan leather interior. Watching the fuel gauge descend while on the motorway was comical. It made the 3.9 I owned seem parsimonious in comparison!

Yup DAF 66 estate, Renault engine & the original CVT gearbox. Volvo got the factory when they were really after the truck business. They then run down the car part culminating in the 340 which was based on some DAF technology.

Dad used to have a series of renaults when I was younger, started off with Renault 4's (3 in total) then a Renault 6 and a Renault 16. remember going on holiday to Robin Hoods bay and having to get out of the 4 as it wouldn't get up the hill out of the bay with all of us in the car!! I have always fancied getting a 4 as a workhorse, yes I know they are probably all heaps of rust by now!

My friends dad had one, he would leave home, realise he'd forgotten something and reverse back up the road at a scary speed. Not sure if they went as fast backwards as forwards, but they weren't slow apparently!

Yes, they could be driven as fast in reverse as forwards, given a brave mad driver.
