Reg plate discrepencies happen alot. To me I'm unsure as to why its done/why more research isn't put into it, or is it just because we are all car nuts and are the only ones who notice?
This annoyed me in the second series of 'vexed' on the bbc, they used a pre-facelift Foucs ST (facelift happened at 56 plate), and drove it with a 60 plate, which is too modern for the car!
Why on earth would the TV producers bother with things like this when they only impact on 'enjoyment' for 0.0001% of their audience? This annoyed me in the second series of 'vexed' on the bbc, they used a pre-facelift Foucs ST (facelift happened at 56 plate), and drove it with a 60 plate, which is too modern for the car!

I must be part of the 0.0001% because to me it doesn't look right, it sticks out like a sore thumb, and ruins the authenticity of the program. Some of these TV/Film companies seem very lazy when it comes to putting a correct-for-the-age numberplate on a car. Perhaps their props departments are run by total non-petrol heads.
Terry McCann's pre-facelift MK1 Ford Capri, on an R plate
Oh come on, everybody knows that the last of the pre-facelift MK1's were registered on an L plate

Maybe the programme makers are smarter than you think. In order to give more depth to the character of Terry and make him a more three-dimentional, believable character they have intentionally put him in to a late, pre-facelift Mk1 that a dealer has sat out the back, unregistered because he couldn't sell it, then finally sold 4 years later and hence registered on an R plate...Oh come on, everybody knows that the last of the pre-facelift MK1's were registered on an L plate
But probably just a number plate the production company had knocking about.

You should try watching the trains in period dramas. Nearly every tearful goodbye departs from Horsted Keynes (Bluebell Railway). If they use stock footage of a train departing a London terminus you can guarantee it's a different loco pulling it when they cut to a shot of it coming out of a tunnel! Usually the engines shown are totally wrong for the location with Southern Railway engines (back to the Bluebell Railway again) pulling a train across the Yorkshire Moors etc. etc. My wife tells me not to worry about it but a little research on the part of the directors and care by the continuity people would make the difference.
I've noticed that too! Still, it's all good publicity for the Bluebell... and if they actually went to the NYMR, they'd stand a good change of getting a Southern loco there (Repton, 825) too...//j17 said:

As we know, he was a dodgy used car dealer, so it was probably a ringer that he couldn't sell on!

Spotted while on holiday last week. Not sure about left to die/rotting but didn't look like it had moved in a while?
Anyone know what it is?
Strictly speaking it's an imported JDM Nissan Fairlady Z. Looks like a twin turbo one too because of the intercooler vents in the splitter.Anyone know what it is?
Cracking cars. Miss mine terribly.

That added to the excitement of snooping in those days, having the memory of the Deliverance fresh in my mind (plus I knew I could outrun my mate).
I've had a shotgun pointed at me by an unshaven "woman" in wellies before, and I was invited to visit by the owner (her father). Luckily she didn't take a fancy to me.
The yard in those photos is just North of Norwich. It was called Meddlers. They didn't like meddlers, though.

Funny Guy he was, had Thousands of Cars, we used to frequent that yard very often for bits...
You just get the bits off the Cars yaself...
Just tell him what ya want and he tell ya where to get it along the lines of "Aisle 11 halfway done on the left next to the Blue Daimler"...
Was like going to Asda and asking for something...
Sometimes we used to get bits and chuck em over the fence into the Car Park...Sssshhhh...
