Alresford?
don't think so...unless there are two..?Spotted this one in the back garden of a house in a little village near Limoges. Seems a bit of a shame. I quite fancied one of those from time to time but if they were no better than my Cavalier SRi then I left well alone.
Also in the garden were two dead Volvo estates, two ancient Renault vans and two tidy looking American motors that were actually under sheets. Just an average French rural garden then...

Ohh, an early B series but with the silly Exclusive spoiler added to it, possibly 1900cc. 4 speed box. Also in the garden were two dead Volvo estates, two ancient Renault vans and two tidy looking American motors that were actually under sheets. Just an average French rural garden then...
Chrome bumper model and the shell probably made from the better early model metal that seems to be less prone to rot. dry (ish) country car so likely to be solid but the interior toasted.
I fancy that.
I posted that pic on another site and got an immediate reply from someone in the UK who recognised the car and the location! Apparently the owner of this garden sometimes exports cars to the UK and the guy who contacted me drives the truck. I could ask if he wants to sell the Manta when I'm passing that way again...

Received a call about this last week, sat in a lockup since the original owner sadly passed away 8 years ago.
The lockup is now needed for another car, so it has been rescued
Looks like a last of the line W201 (a 190 series) - has the jumping wiper parking on the drivers side (so post '83) and the side repeater is just visible so it's prob a post '87 car. Headlamp wipers standard on the 2.6 or an extra on the others only usually after most other boxes have been ticked so probably a good spec on it. In good order, these are very desirable and totally realistic as a daily. You wouldn't say that for pretty much any of it's 25 year old competitors.

............ and at what age does it simply change from a raggy arsed motor to something desirable and therefore "classic".
IMHO age has nothing to do with it. If a car was a "run of the mill", boring, ordinary car that has survived for some years it's now just an old "run of the mill", boring, ordinary car.Perhaps this and other threads here should be retitled along the lines of "25 year olds left to die/rotting pics".

You seem to want to define a classic as something that is worth a lot of money.
Where on earth did you get this from??????I haven't mentioned money or the value of cars in any of my posts
My original post about the Merc was a genuine request as to whether that particular model was a bit special or rare when new and hence would be of more interest now than "run of the mill" models.
