LOL, it's just a slow restoration... I've a few things ahead of it in the queue so the XR2 doesn't get many cycles. These are just the spare "roll it around" wheels, including an old slick from <mumble> years ago that's now got a horrible flat spot DarkMatter said:

He's owned it from new. We both hillclimbed it at Gurston Down.
I'd like to see that 5000M in your profile competing at Gurston Down.Chris's 5000M is responsible for the XR2 not progressing fast... I have Taimar that's being introduced to a Ford 302 that's getting all the $$ currently. The 5000M is a complete riot to drive

A Bentley in a garage. Is it left to die, certainly doesn't appear to be rotting.
those big old s series can rot for England, and hide it pretty wellthe worst bits are the o/s/r chassis leg which gets covered in battery acid and just vanishes (and is a terrible job to fix correctly) and the sills which are a real complicated selection of panels.
ask me how I know..........
a beautiful looking car though

Email at work from my boss who recently bought a Bentley:Could you put the word out I’m looking for a pair of old leather boxing gloves to hang over the overiders (or whatever those sticky up things on the front bumper are called )? This is so I can drive gently up to the wall. As the Bentley driver’s manual accurately advises “ judicious use of the handbrake is advised during parking operations”. i.e. the brakes won’t stop you hitting the wall at low revs.
I replied by asking if the photo was of his car. He was mortified. "Mine's an S3!!!"

the brakes are terrible on them at low speed as they are servoed, but its driven via the gearbox, so at low speed they just doesn't work.Could you put the word out I’m looking for a pair of old leather boxing gloves to hang over the overiders (or whatever those sticky up things on the front bumper are called )? I think every one who has ever driven one has had a low speed 'oh jesus Christ' moment in one, mine was reversing straight into the front of my dads derby Bentley and absolutely mullering the rear bumper......
it didn't go down well.................

Maybe padding on the wall would be better, if less of a moveable feast.Could you put the word out I’m looking for a pair of old leather boxing gloves to hang over the overiders (or whatever those sticky up things on the front bumper are called )? My youngest stepdaughter laughed at me for hanging a square of upholstery foam in the garage adjacent to where the door of her mum's car would touch the wall. My youngest stepdaughter with the paint missing from the edges of her car doors, that is.The guv'nor leaves the Bentley in London in a private car park at the moment while he has his garage lengthened. So, removable guards would suit his predicament at the moment.
Maybe this should be in the First World Problems thread.

Might well be a BMW E30, but the wheel isn't the correct BBS manufactured BMW alloy wheel.
The BBS have twist on centre caps, that wheel photo shows a hole for a retaining screw to hold the centre caps on....
Which would point to the car being a 320I which had the 14 inch BBS RZ which do have push on centre caps. The BBS have twist on centre caps, that wheel photo shows a hole for a retaining screw to hold the centre caps on....

Tell him he wants a pongpong ball. . hung from the ceiling rafters, when this gently touches the windscreen he is in enough
Thanks william, but that would only be part of the solution. The ghastly truth is, there are no brakes at low speed with low revs. The windscreen would touch the ball, he'd brake and the car would carry on. Plus, in London, it's not his car park. I will suggest it though for his garage in Kent when it's extended. When I had a car and garage combination that only just worked I had pieces of wood on the floor; one cross ways to run the front tyres up to, with two behind it back to the end wall to stop it moving.Sorry for the quality of the pics. These two have been outside a working garage in Stoke Gabriel, Devon, for a long, long time. I reckon around 25-30 years now. There used to be a couple of Minis alongside the rusty old car, but they must have gone fairly recently as they were still there a couple of years back.

The left photo appears to be the remains of a Fordson E83W VanEdited by richardgrace75 on Wednesday 13th August 13:10
