I was wondering what it was. Couldn't find anything similar online. Well found, thanks!
I only found the pic to post, I knew what it was as soon as I saw it, I had one in the 60's frown

LOL, it's just a slow restoration... I've a few things ahead of it in the queue so the XR2 doesn't get many cycles. These are just the spare "roll it around" wheels, including an old slick from <mumble> years ago that's now got a horrible flat spot biggrin
Excellent, glad to hear it's alive! Love those little cars.

Are you the bloke with the rotting Mustang round the corner too?
That'll be mine too, although Max the cat feels it's his territory now ;-)

Before anyone complains too loudly, that's where the engine and gearbox for the Taimar are coming from, and the body is beyond saving in so many places there's barely any metal left to weigh in at the scrappie. It's had a brutal life so I feel it kindest to let it rust in peace.

Always thought the allegro estate was a very stylish design. Better looking then a scimiter gte even

This brace of beauties has been featured before, but these are better pictures, taken after vehicle movements within the yard.

That is one of the oddest opinions I've ever read on Pistonheads. Or do I get a whoosh-parrot?

I'll admit to liking the Marina and Montego from Day 1, feck , even the Landcrab - but Allegro estate....

I just fancy sticking a straight 6 in one, changing to rwd and putting massive arches on it.
Make it look like a silhouette/ period race car.
Oddly, I am looking at buying a Scimitar at the moment !!

To be fair there's probably enough room under the bonnet for an E6 out of a Princess, although that's probably not what you had in mind... hehe

I've spotted, in Hayes Middlesex, a Camaro rotting away in a front garden. It's part covered by a plastic sheet, but what I can see from the part of the car that is exposed is that the rear wing has virtually completely rotted away...it's obviously been there for years and years. Shame. When I next go that way I'll endeavour to take a picture.

I'm no huge allegro fan... but that said, I did always think there was something about the swept up rear window on the estate that was distinctive. IIRC when I was little (say 1980) our family GP in Chapeltown, Leeds had one in brown with great stripes like these:

Hello, neighbour! If you see a ginger beardy bloke wandering past with a tan and white Jack Russell, that'll be me. Do give me a shout. I live round the corner, behind a "Right School Wrong Site" sign at the moment. I enjoy walking through your driveway to/from the lane on a regular basis, hope it doesn't get on your tits too much. ;-)

My opinion? Leave the bloody things where they are, do not tell anyone of the location, let them rot and die, terrible cars.

Back to yer common, or as in this example, garden classics. A Spitfire at a house in Caldercruix, east of Glasgow. It looks well, but the wheels were chocked and it's across the garden so I don't think it's been out much lately.

Ooops - won't let me upload the image. Try again later.

I would quite fancy one too. For purely nostalgic reasons as my Dad bought a new one in the summer of 1976. The lack of rear doors was odd - but at least child locks were not needed. The vinyl seats would burn my legs in shorts in the summer. I put little round marks on the vinyl seats from the cigarette lighter (Dad was not impressed!) It would need a top up of oil half way on the journey to visit the grandparents in London (Always Cheiveley services on the M41).
