Couldn't get any closer, flat tyres and moss growing on ground around it:
LOL, it's just a slow restoration... I've a few things ahead of it in the queue so the XR2 doesn't get many cycles. These are just the spare "roll it around" wheels, including an old slick from <mumble> years ago that's now got a horrible flat spot biggrin
Excellent, glad to hear it's alive! Love those little cars.

Are you the bloke with the rotting Mustang round the corner too?
That'll be mine too, although Max the cat feels it's his territory now ;-)

Before anyone complains too loudly, that's where the engine and gearbox for the Taimar are coming from, and the body is beyond saving in so many places there's barely any metal left to weigh in at the scrappie. It's had a brutal life so I feel it kindest to let it rust in peace.
Hello, neighbour! If you see a ginger beardy bloke wandering past with a tan and white Jack Russell, that'll be me. Do give me a shout. I live round the corner, behind a "Right School Wrong Site" sign at the moment. I enjoy walking through your driveway to/from the lane on a regular basis, hope it doesn't get on your tits too much. ;-)
Howdie neighbour biggrin.

The sign doesn't narrow things down much (there being a few dotted about currently) but I'll look out for you when I'm under one of the rusting wrecks and try to remember my manners and say Hi!
Feel free to walk down the driveway; there's a PROW thru to the lane so you aren't getting on anyone's tits ;-)

cheers, Nick

This Saab has been here for years, outside the spookiest house in the area. There are other cars and a caravan hiding in the shrubbery.

Good to know you don't mind - if I lived in your house I'd get a bit fed up with folks trogging past. I'm on a corner of "the" avenue with a silver Mazda 6 estate and black Golf on the drive. I doubt you pass my way to get to your place though.

Cheers,
Steve

+1 for the Aggro estate! wavey

Had a 1.1DL in brown in 1990, needed oil every 10 miles and wouldn't go up hills. Which was handy in Scotland. Still not the worst car I've owned...

Looks like a car cover which rotted away well before the car ever will.

Unfortunately like many of the vehicles nowadays X5's for example with Can-bus/too many toys etc etc wont reach classic/oldies status frown way too costly to repair when they fall from bad /poor owners etc scratchchin throw away society ............
You'd be amazed. There are already kids running profitable businesses keeping modern electronics going!

We think parts are fubarred when for younger people it's child's play to sort.

I met some guys recently in the West Country who were making a living keeping early L322 Rangies running sweetly.

I think that must have been you under a Mustang on Saturday, I hurried past as it looked like you were ready to brain someone with the large tool you were ramming in to its underside. Didn't look like you fancied a chat at the time............

I've spotted, in Hayes Middlesex, a Camaro rotting away in a front garden. It's part covered by a plastic sheet, but what I can see from the part of the car that is exposed is that the rear wing has virtually completely rotted away...it's obviously been there for years and years. Shame. When I next go that way I'll endeavour to take a picture.
I'm from hayes and trust me that has been there forever, I'm sure its called the Memphis belle and has a small hand painted 40s pin up girl on the back ! the rear wing has completely crumbled away should think the car is well passed saving, the strange thing is the plastic sheet is a relatively new addition !!
next time you go past look a little closer and youll spot a viva in the garage aswell

It's a shame we can't edit the first post or thread title so that it's either 'self found' cars or at the very least photos with traceable provenance. Too many posts in this thread just showing some photos lifted from a stereotypical 'abandoned cars' gallery or similar with little or no further information.

How is it not the worst car you've owned? It used more oil than petrol, couldn't get up hills, and you've probably owned pairs of socks longer than you owned that car!
