There were a couple of other cars in the background that looked abandoned too, but I couldn't see what they were. It was tempting to park up and go see what was going on with it. I recall it was a 51 plate, but even so should still be worth a reasonable sum, depending on what's wrong of course. Not strictly a classic, of course, but probably only a matter of time.

I've also done U turns to go back to get pics of an abandoned car.

Or abandon the lorry and walk back to get the pics.

On holiday in the South West of France I passed a garage which looked like the lights had been switched off in the mid 80's - however 2 things caught my eye, the modern Renault signage and a few newer cars in the workshop. A few days later, I passed it again and sure enough, the garage was a hive of activity. I tracked in on Streetview and amazingly the proprietor has "tidied it up" into the state I found it!

Parked outside on the second trip was a Renault 12 in Gordini Blue complete with white stripe, Cibie foglight covers and bucket seats - looked in great nick but not sure if it was the real deal or not. Couldn't get a pic as unfortunately my wife strangely doesn't buy into the notion of driving all the way to the south of France to then spend the afternoon taking pictures of sad old cars to show strangers on the internet...

Renault Dauphine and 8

Another 8 and a yellow 2CV carcass

Dead 14, dead GSA, dead Rangie, lovely R18 Turbo also gone

Very early R4

Modern Renault sign and a garden ornament R14

Couple of Discos, a R5 shell I think and those ubiquitous Renault Master vans from the 80's

Audi Coupe looking like it was just parked up one night 10 years ago and forgotten about

Hang on, what's this? UK registered XJ 4.0

Deeply mysterious creatures aren't they, all part of the allure I suppose. cloud9

Ah, sussed it. Aden, now known as Yemen.

Obscure.

ADN was the British Colony of Aden, which was subsumed into the People's Republic of (Communist) South Yemen in 1963.

That is a 1967 plate, so someone must have just stuck a very old country code sticker on their newer car.

Is that a Volvo 144 pre-facelift?

RHD Alfa in war torn Yemen in the 70's. What could go wrong?

"Er darling, the rebels are bombing the house opposite, we need to get the fk out of here"

"Sure, the headlight relay and carb assembly is on the way from Turin so we should be fine to leave sometime next October"

Scrap that - Colony of Aden > State of Aden (1963) > PR South Yemen (1967). It's a State of Aden country sticker.
