I tried to buy a 3200 about four years ago, double cheap as it was a non runner.The reason was because the engine wiring harness had been eaten through by local wildlife!
I recall a coupe sitting at a local MOT station for a few weeks, having failed on something to do with sidelights, and requiring a "lighting controller" of some description, back-order from Italy and nearer £1000 than £500 (with possible rounding errors for the re-telling).
I guess where a sixties Maserati in that condition would be an incredible find, this may well just be more trouble than it's worth. Still seems somehow wrong.

Ta, there's some sort of Panhard saloon at this place too, just visible in the second shot (and which I think is the mystery car Dapster mentions). These photos from 2010 show it better:

I appreciate not all of them are actually French-made vehicles :-) Quite a few LR/RR's at this place. The XJ is a RHD Series 3 saloon.I stumbled across this yard in 2010 and was so impressed I marked it on our road atlas. Luckily a cross-country trip this year just happened to go right past it again, so while the rest of my family had a spot of lunch I managed to get a few more photos. Barking dogs prevent too much investigation, I'm not sure if this is a working scrapyard, stuff belonging to a trader or someone's private collection which has got out of hand.

I was in the Vendee region again this year for summer & it was noticeable that a lot of the older style garages had closed since I was last there a couple of years ago & that there were far fewer dying older cars in yards and outside houses or on wasteland to spot. Pity as there used to be a couple of places that always had some interesting old tat lying about.

Regulars on here will know that I can't resist strolling around back streets in villages near me in the Haute-Vienne and Charente, knowing I'll spot interesting stuff. I came across a couple of garages like the ones above in the Lot a couple of years ago but I've lost the pix. I have never been able to work out why the French hoard motors in the way that they can't seem to resist. There was a scrappage scheme some years ago - before the UK tried it - and I think some of the caches behind country garages still date from then, but it's the ones in gardens and barns that never cease to amaze me.

Thanks, interesting - we went via the Loire, stayed in Chaumont-sur-Loire where I spotted this R5 lurking behind a well smashed (non classic) 206.
I wasn't there long enough to see much else though.
