Just seen this abandoned on a drive in Mitcham . Looks very similar to the one my mate bought last week, but his is mint! What a shame, if it is not already the grass will eat it's way up into the interior quite quickly....

There's one of them sat just about round the corner from me with the tell-tale flat tyre(s).

Been sat for some time. Being left out like that can't be good for Italian steel.

car saved.
Good effort. smile

Pics when sorted?
lots of pics and videos all now posted, not sure how to post on here. if you google GXL restoration or put the reg PNO 922K all the links show on youtube, i think the best one is 'cortina GXL rescue' as that shows them pulling the car out. It all started from THIS ACTUAL THREAD!!!
I was wondering around the classic car show today at the NEC, and this was on display. Beautifully restored and gleaming!

I recognised the plate and got talking to the owner, who was a great chap. The car is an absolute credit to you btw! smile

I was that busy talking, I forgot to get some pics of it. I would have loved to have posted them here. Anyone else going tomorrow?

These have been here as long as i can remember (at least 5 years)

S Class

Jag, guessing XK150 FHC ?

Not the same place but this was from a few years ago (re-discovered the pic so i thought i'd post it here)

A scrap yard owner neighbour said he had a Dodge Charger in (he knew i used to own a 68), went down to have a look and found it was an Austrailian Chrysler Valiant Charger, looking past the shocking pink paint it was actually quite solid, complete and would have been a viable project, unfortunately a destruction order was in place so the shell had to be destroyed.

I think he sold the wheels off it, the rest went to waste frown

This would be much more visible if a Sprinter wasn't wedged against it.

On a busy London street.
Goldhawk Road, just outside the Jag place...often thought about taking a snap of it for this thread but never get round to it

I don't understand 'destruction orders'. Why would a car like that have to be destroyed? (Apart from being that colour.).

Scrappage is the only reason I can fathom, but I thought that particular governmental perversion was long gone.

Yep,that's it.

There's a joiners workshop behind there I was delivering to.

There was some interesting body parts in the back too.

It was long after the Scrappage scheme, 2012 i think, from what i can remember the car was left abandoned in a council lock up so the council logged the car as scrapped with the DVLA, then contracted the yard owner to collect it and dispose of it.

Yard owner said in no uncertain terms that the car could not be used again, he would lose his licence if it did.

Heard of the same thing happening to a 71 Mach1 Mustang years ago.

These two Minis have gone now, they were moved about a year ago. But there hadn't moved for about 15 years prior to that. Found this picture over the weekend and thought you would all still like to see it.
