Has any member here actually saved any of the cars shown in the life of these threads or is it more wouldn't it be great if someone would save it - or generally are the pics of cars that are scrap or doner only situations
Someone did I think, about 100 or so pages back.A member re posted it in a thread in TVR section.
Got PMed about it and gave out address.
Car was bought and is apparently the 2nd chassis of that type produced.
And is being saved.

I thought that the triumph straight 6's only came in 2 litre and the 2.5 and it's a great sounding engine, what is the story behind a 1.6? I've always had a soft spot for Triumph's of this era 9mm said:

I was similarly unaware. I think the 1.6 was 'the original' and later grew, firstly in the same Vitesse body. It's a sweet engine and far too rare to swap now. When I drove the car the performance was perfectly adequate and that was without any effort to get it into a top state of tune. The saloons are rarer than the convertibles now and they are a lovely thing with the full sized fabric sunroof. I think the design has aged really well.Rower said:
I had an early Vitesse in about 1969 with the 1600 straight 6 , Reg 33ERX , white with a dark blue stripe , the engine was as smooth as silk and sounded great , the chassis holding the rear suspension used to rust off from time to time, but the local Triumph garage replaced it in about 20 minutes !
One side was easier than the other to replace, certainly on the Herald, as the brake and fuel pipes go through the chassis rail on the one - I tended to take a little more care welding there!DannyScene said:

Don't know if any of them are rare or interesting
The jag with the spoiler looks interesting but I know very little of old jags
The below is in the same garden as the humber and the blue one however this one hasn't had any shelter for many many years, as you can tell

I stopped to have a look this morning, the Marcos (whatever the plural is) have gone, not sure where the Jags etc. were as I didn't see that area so maybe a separate bit of land which is apparently for sale with the building if a buyer wants. All that is left is the Humber:Took these pics round the back of a long abandoned building

And a Citroen BX at the front:
The house could be fantastic but the amount of work needed is pretty daunting!
