This chap was from the Far East and had a huge plot of land with high end mercs, rollers and bmw's from the 80's and 90's just parked up in the open rotting away amoung his current fleet
Sounds both interesting and upsetting at the same time, did you see anything else worth mentioning?

Don't mention the infinitely better looking 159 then...!
I prefer the 156, to be honest, and the '6 was a far better car - better chassis and the V6 was still Giuseppe Busso's, not a 12-valve iron-block bought from Holden!

Brera - a triumph of style over substance, alas (although the kerb weight suggested it wasn't lacking substance in the literal sense!).
Indeed, the lump in the Brera was a total disappointment
156 is great, 159 Saloon and Wagon look good but I'm not a fan of the Brera, love the GT.

Not a car, but I was surprised to see this in a farmer's field in the Northants countryside recently.

Undoubtedly a bus, thanks for the clarification. wink
Seriously though, thanks for the extra info.
There was also a more modern, 1990s bus rotting in the same field.

That's not rotting.... Around here they use vehicles in far worse condition for school transport...

Very interesting this one! Can't tell you exact location as my father-in-law spotted it whilst on holiday in Scotland. Doesn't look like it's rotting, but definitely left.

Saw this depressing sight today, Saab 900 Carlsson abandoned in a pub car park in West Lancs. Relatively affluent area.

Could belong to the pub owner. Anyone interested in saving this beaut?

As a guess, I'm going for gearbox failure. Hope someone saves it though. Great looking car and rare.

A thing of beauty, if only i had the time and money. I expect that will be a money pit but worth it.

Did it look like this one was being put back on the road at all bud? I recall seeing that on Ebay, must be 10 years ago or more, in more or less the same condition! Very late registration for one of these, by end of production 81/82 they were built to order at 1 a week!

It was in an accident repar yard in Thame (Thame Services) and not the sort of car I'd imagine they would repair. Bodywork sound but needs filling and complete prep and paint. Worst was interior. Dash etc - all the 'foam' seemed to be crumbling away and falling apart. No idea if spare parts can be sourced. Shame to see it end up in their skip. Probably not cost effective but would make a nice project for someone.

Mystery solved. It appeared abandoned in a pub car park in Rufford, West Lancs. On phoning the pub, apparently it is owned by the pub manager and used only for track days. Its locked in reverse and tyres let down as someone tried to steal it, so that's meant as a deterrent. Unfortunately though, I am told... not for sale.

It looks to have had at least a partial respray at some time as the rear badges are missing (the paint on their back ends often goes manky for some bizarre reason) The interior will have deffo suffered due to leaks as the futuristic window sealing Lotus tried out back then didn't work for long, then all the carpets and foam get shot. That's usually when owners lose interest and they end up in yards.

You are right about restos on these not being cost effective - I did one one an Eclat bought for a song and still only got back the price of the parts, with only 1 or 2 intested buyers too. You have to buy one of these coz you love them, and that's a short queue!
