good find, I wonder what left behind in that car, maybe they will find something from some old crime in the past.

I was thinking the GRP shell is an Arkley or possibly a Lightspeed Magenta, but not convinced about either. Oliver.
Not an Arkley, they were more stumpy than that.
Not an Arkley. They were just a nose and tail job on a Midget, so not a full fibreglass shell like this one.

Not dumpy enough for a Magenta.

I agree with the OP's suggestion that it is a Merlin.

The article above identifies it as a vintage Mk 3 Cortina. Vintage? I owned one of those back in 1975!

That is 40 years ago. I'm quite sure that justifies the 'vintage' label.

Strictly speaking, in classic car circles "Vintage" is the period 1919-1930. The Americans have hijacked it to mean anything more than 6 months old. Just because they don't have any history.

Don't know if it really counts as a classic but this is a pleasing little tableau on the farm of our neighbour in the Dordogne;

I go to or through France every week, I keep seeing a 205 near the village of Loon Plage that has a Belingo type back end on it.

P.S I'd post a piccy but since the forum went through its big upgrade a few weeks ago, I haven't been able to log on with my mobile devices , only spend the odd hour a week here now.

Really? Well they still haven't fixed the unique id that breaks password managers. Still I suppose it's only been 6 weeks.

They sorted out my recurring problems quite quickly. The new system had trouble with me using my work PC, my laptop and my phone all logged into PH simultaneously. Bless em, I explained the sequence of events and the kit I was using and, hey presto, they sorted it.

Cheers Dicky, but I was spending too much time on here, after the first few weeks I sort of got used to being without it, I log on at weekends only now.

The French do seem to have had a few odd vans over the years, I didn't realise it at the time but behind this Mercedes is a Mk2 Polo with a conversion called Transfer:
