the engine might've let go
Strong probability I imagine, and I guess there are so many in a similar state that it's hard to give them away?
Same for anything that age anything over a few hundred and it's not worth fixing it. Could be running perfectly but needed new tyres and tax, boom that's ~£800 and I'd expect it's worth at most about a grand as a runner[1].

[1] Parkers only allows you to go back to 2006 for prices where a running RX-8 would only be worth £1500 at best and that's an early car from 2004.... If it's not running it's only going to be worth scrap value.
PPC Magazine had an article about alternative engine transplants for these, everything up to a Chevy big block!

And this Aston obviously can't have been abandoned that long as it's a modern car, but again, I've never seen it move and it's always covered in dust.

Was out and about last October - http://www.autogespot.co.uk/spots?licenseplate=M23...

Trouble is that you're into big money and/or a *lot* of work. Nothing decent goes in easily to be worth it IMO against buying something else. Even for those that decry the RX-8's reliability there is something crazy about some of the ideas for engine replacements against just fixing the original if it goes.

If the engine's blown up, either a Mazda V6 or a GM LS V8 would be my choice...

I first spotted this a few years ago in the service bay of an abandoned filling station in a little town in the mountains of southern Auvergne, France. I happened to pass through the town again yesterday and, yep, it's still there. I once had one exactly like it. It looks clean and rust-free under the dust but, being a 2600, presumably the head gasket or camshaft let go and that was that.

Can anyone ID this? been sat under a Tarp for a good while now. I'm going with either a yank of some description or an 80's Toyota Sedan barge type thing.

It bears resemblance to a '71 - '73 Mercury Cougar...

This was mine from years ago while the engine was out for a rebuild, (spot the bellhousing)...

These three have been here for years. BMW E34, E30 and a Land Rover 101 Forward Control under the tarp. The LR is worth saving....

I recognise the BMWs above on the A46 just South of Nailsworth, Glos. There have always been two sat there for 20 years that I know of....

This has been sitting up the road from me for about 6 months now....slowly being surrounded by weeds.

Do the vents across the front and the air intake in the bonnet signify a particular model?

I have actually seen that Land Rover move but being as I moved from the area 19 years ago that's nothing to write home about smile

924 and the vents signify that its a 'Turbo'. What's going on with the roof / windscreen, it looks like the 'screen has been partially removed, or the roof is bent.

Delaminating in the right upper area, and looks like the rubber has been removed.

Thanks. I think it is condensation at the top of the screen. Does look odd in the picture though. Roof looked fine when I had a peak at it a couple of days ago...Quite like the idea of it as a project car

Looks like the screen is de laminating.

A couple of spots near me.

First on is where old BMW's go to die, loads of E28s, E12s, E23s, E32s etc.. (image is from google as I couldn't stop to take a photo)

Second is a lovely old Benz, not sure which model exactly, didn't look too bad, light covering of moss and leaves and rubbish leant against it, hopefully just waiting a bit of love and attention.

Beautiful early 70's W115 Coupe (prob a 250) - pre facelift hence the smooth not ribbed tail light lenses. Worth £10k + in good nick but it may be rusted to buggery by now. Sadly, whilst looking for an image, it looks like a lot of them have probably met an ignominious end "slammed" to the ground on stupid massive wire wheels.
