I agree. But it is ghastly. I'd take it out and keep it safe, but use Mota-Lita for actual driving.

I love the stock steel wheels on what is a serious performance/Q car/Sleeper car. They add a dimension of mystery way above the 'must have' spokey dokey alloys on everything brigade.

It stays, yes the wheel's ghastly but it'll be a conversation piece if nothing else. All part of the back story smile

I draw the line at re-instating the (removed by a P.O.) single Stromberg carb though (that is stored away, un-fitted).

Lovely car, brings back memories, I had one brand new in black back in 1988 but with optional BBS alloys, and my wife had a Jade green 1986 8 valve with the same pressed steel wheels.

Be interesting to see what you move on to after something like a Maserati Mexico.

I just feel very proud and lucky to have owned it for the last few years, and proud that it's back on the road.

Happily, life goes on and it's time for a new direction thumbup

I'm also looking to move on my Aston Martin Vantage and consolidate with something modern, that will free up garage space to start looking at building up my TVR 3000M if I have any pennies left!

Nice approach. I loved reading about your Maserati, it reminded me so much of what I did with my DB MkIII over the last 10 years. I don't think I could sell that though.

Cheers, it was such a nice car to work on too, very enjoyable. The next little project is my 3000m TVR, to be built around the brand new chassis that's been swinging above the Mexico for the last few years...

That's a great car in the best colour. Photographed in its UK spiritual home (Volkswagen UK HQ) as well!

My very first company car order with Volkswagen UK in late 1982 was a Mk1 GTI in Lhasa. When it turned up it was a Scirocco GTI in Baikal Blue. If only everything in life.......

Still hanker after a Mk1 GTI.
