I am LOVING that ... had three Scirocco's, but my favourite was my white F reg Scala, identical to that ... VERY nice example too, very jealous !
Don't know about Essex, more like silly Suffolk, Lowestoft? I had a couple of Scirocco's would buy one now if the right car came up for sale. That looks stunning, a pain to keep clean inside and out!

[quote=SYNCRO]I give you my MK2 Scirocco Scala

Great car! You have done really well to find one that good...congratulations.

I had one of the first 1800 Scirocco Mk2 GTIs imported as my company car at Volkswagen in 1982. It was used by Thatcham to assess the insurance group for the model on its way to me. It was subsequently used by the PR team for photography and photos of it sometimes turn up on ebay. I liked it so much I had a further six as company cars over the next few years, ending with a Scala in about 1988.

If anyone has KVV 422Y, it was very carefully run in and was noticeably the quickest Scirocco of the seven (I was told by the technical folk at the time that the early 1800 engines had slightly different injectors)!

Been lurking on PH for years now and never posted pics of either of my too classics. Got a 1974 Beetle we bought in 2004 and a 1971 Bay Camper bought in 2007.

Both are pretty stock with just a slight lowering job on each and a wheel swap. The Beetle sports some 70s GT rims from the VW parts catalogue

The camper some Gas Burner replicas.

Bought it almost six months ago, still learning to drive but its a fun experience, learning/restoring.
Lovely! Pimento Red? Restored my MKIV when I was 18/19 and painted it that colour. If you're intending to drive it in a 'spirited' way and if it hasn't already got one, I would recommend an oil cooler as the 3 bearing crank suffered from bearing failure due to thinning oil. I spent 4 hours sitting by the M1 with a shot engine once. Can't wait to get my MKIII running.

I wouldn't, I 'd recommend first trying regular and thorough oil and filter changes (get the oil as hot as possible and leave to drain as long as possible) and the use of good quality oil

if you going with an oil cooler (towing a horsebox?) then have a oil thermostat with it

Doubt it, they're just plain wrong! In fairness I expect the owner is waiting to locate something more suitable before changing them.

It is a beautiful Alfetta. What are the wheels, look like Momo Vegas but not, are they from the new Fiat 500?
