You're going to have to tell me more! Is that the one with the Skip Brown engine and non-standard seats? The Avenger Tiger concept began as a publicity exercise. Avenger Super (four-door) cars were modified by the Chrysler Competitions Centre under Des O' Dell and the Tiger model was launched in March 1972. Modifications included the 1500 GT engine with an improved cylinder head with enlarged valves, twin Weber carburetors and a compression ratio of 9.4:1. The engine now developed 92.5 bhp (69 kW) at 6,100 rpm. The suspension was also uprated, whilst brakes, rear axle, and gearbox are directly from the GT.
Not particularly received at the time

I think the car with the engine upgrade that you mention is OYD 891L which is on with a dealer at £20k.This one is standard, as far as I'm aware, restored a few years ago.
I was after an early 70's saloon, my first thoughts were a Mk11 Lotus Cortina, I was priced out of that aspiration and was looking at 1600e's when I spotted this. It is a car that was completely off my radar and following a bit of man-maths I thought why not.
According to How Many Left there are 23, which may or may not be correct, and of course there are copies. I researched before I decided to buy and found a few bits of info on recent sales and non-sales, I hope the fact that it is relatively rare proves to make it a good choice.

Would you mind if I asked what you paid for it? They are always on my radar!!
I could have bought that car the dealer has for 12k last year.
It would have been a very good buy at that.I could have bought that car the dealer has for 12k last year.
I purchased my car from a private seller. It had been sold to him from a dealer earlier in the year when it was on at £12,995. As you say the car you referred to was sold for £12k + commission at auction this year and is now with a dealer at £19,995. I found an auction result for another sold this year at £13,200 and a MK2 was bid on ebay recently to £11,500 but did not reach its reserve. Then again a less tidy car sold for under £5k on ebay last week, although I don't know if that one was original.

I'd love an M5 but the horror stories about huge bills have put me off. They look great though.
Agree, two distinct areas of spend, body rust is almost guaranteed, can be done but costly.
Suspension, get rid of edc but steering etc is complex, mechanics, pray for no serious engine problems plus gearbox rattly and clutch may not last too long.
but the 3.8 when good and behaving is a maxi smile machine

Do you know this car? I googled it and seems to be some ''history''.Agree, two distinct areas of spend, body rust is almost guaranteed, can be done but costly.
