My Lancia Montecarlo Series 2 Spyder, all Original,

Nice, but I fancy that the exhaust is not too original...

It's an interesting one....

The 599 was a fabulous thing with an epic engine. In fact the engine almost felt too much, it relied a lot on the TC to keep it in check. If the road conditions were anything other than dry and warm, you could overwhelm the available grip and the chassis control rather easily. It also felt big, which it was, and I'm no fan of the F1 automated single clutch manual.

The 575 on the other hand feels more compact, it feels like the chassis can take what the engine gives, the engine itself lacks the savage top end of the 599, but it's more torquey low down, combine it with he fact mine is a manual and I prefer the 575.

For me, if I want epic usable speed, I take the FF, it's a better GT car than the 599.

Lovely, with a matching tool chest too!

Hi TR4,

Well spotted, it's an ANSA and was fitted by the West Country Lancia Dealer where my late Uncle Purchased the car new way back in 1982.

Hi George,

Thanks, it does have a little of the Merak about it, the rear flying buttresses are glazed on the Montecarlo.

Nick.

Thanks mate! Your car is one of those things that just looks better every time you look at it. You said it has an exhaust (that is not the stock) how much BHP increase has it on the original? Cheers! (Thanks for the pics)

Thanks ZNS,

It's been in my family since it was new, I was 12 when I first saw it and my late Uncle took me to School in it, all my friends thought it was a Ferrari!

I'm 45 now and whenever I take my little boy out in it I can't help but think of the old days.

Nick.
