Thanks. The car had one owner for 29 years and was always garaged in the dark so it was a lucky find. The owner even logged every single gallon of fuel used and corresponding MPG in a hand-written log. I love the red & orange striped tweed interior which was unique to the 1984 GTi. I have recently fitted the correct single outlet exhaust as the rest of the car is so original I want to keep it that way. It's never had any restoration at all which is pretty remarkable for a 30 year old car with 108K on the clock. It's still on the original clutch!

what a great find, that is really special. I would'nt change a thing either, I'm glad it's found the right owners, far too many of these were modified beyond all recognition ( including by me many years ago )

A good mate of mine had an oak green one when they were new..he had it 2 weeks and it was stolen….he then got the itch again in his mid fifties and found a lovely one…took it to get set up and the garage in question left the oil filler cap off..it burnt the petrol feed pipes and engulfed itself in flames in a garage forecourt in cramlington…he had that one about 1 week…
He decided that it wasn't meant to be and is now cured
