Taken 4 years ago, the old girl went into storage shortly after, and I retrieved her in October last year.... Now sitting in my garage next to the TVR...

She's called Dave smile

Must admit the reg does say 'call me Jake' (or Jackie) smile I call it a 'she' but to be honest it is more of a bloke than a female... I can blame my daughter for having to name it, she had an MGBGT which she called Myrtle (don't ask) and insisted I had to have a name for the roadster, so on the basis that everyone should have a mate called Dave, I promptly christened her Dave. I have to confess that at the time I also had a BGT V8 which was called Brian..... getmecoat

love those Mexico and RS Escorts. The cars of that era are now rightly being recognised and rightly so.

Identical to my old cossie, bought her in '89 and had her for three years, one of the best most fun cars I've ever had the privilege of owning, huge grin factor every time I drove it biggrin

I've always found the Mk2 Mexico quite an interesting oddity - was it actually much quicker than a 1600 Sport as standard?

I doubt it the only difference was that the MK1 had a 1600 X Flow and the MK2 Mex had a 1600 pinto & fitted with the 2.0 litre Pinto cam and fancy exhaust manifold for a bit more power like the MK2 GT Capri wink I like the flat nose of the Mexico MK2 and dont recall seeing many back in the day although a friend of mine had a 77 R plate Mex MK2 in red super clean I think he paid 1200 for it at the time late 80's
