I am going through a phase of loving Ferraris that lots of people hate. (ie - Mondial and 400)
Yours is gorgeous!

Had a lit ride out in the rain today on the old bikes. I was on the Royal Enfield sidecar outfit, dad was on the BSA in the foreground.

Funny how few cars came out because it was raining, our engines were out in it and they didn't dissolve hehe

A little like the 308 GT4, somehow the 70's and 80's cars are growing into their skin. Mine is very good to drive, but there are some very bad ones out there. I saw a 400 the other day that must need £20k spending on it to make it a nice one.....the bills can be horrendous if parts are required. Even some basic servicing can be huge.

My mates seem to think it's an unfinished project. It goes to the trimmer in the next week for a full interior then I'll see what I can do to add more carbs to the straight 8.
It has a lovely patina. You'd have to paint it in this country though, I suspect the rust would very soon get out of hand if you didn't. Patina like this is probably dry climate only!

What is it, by the way. I thought it was a Plymouth, but I didn't see one the same on Google Images, so must be wrong.
It's a 46 Buick Straight 8 that is Holden dealer badged. The rust was out of hand on the chasssis and under the panels. I must have welded in about 20 patches but it's fairly solid now with no obvious holes. My workshop is in the bush where it's dry but I live on the beach so if I painted it I'd only be wasting my time. It's never been painted and I'll leave it that way and I'll just wipe it down with some phosphoric acid to preserve the look.

Came with all the dealer paperwork and complimentry demister wipers. Unused.
I really should have known that - I blame the angle of the photograph!!getmecoat It looks a much smaller car!!

Incredible car! Is it right hand drive?

My grandfather bought a Buick Roadmaster Straight Eight new in 1948. It was a factory right hand drive car, which must be fairly rare, I should think.

He kept it a long time - it was the favourite car he had. He sold it at some time in the 1970s.

He had originally intended to get a Cadillac (I believe the Roadmaster replaced a Cadillac), but had been unable to get hold of one with right hand drive. When he picked the Roadmaster up at the port, a police officer followed him for a mile or two, then pulled him over. My grandfather was initially worried, but the policeman just wanted to sit in the car! They talked about the Buick for quite some time, apparently!

I wonder how many right hand drive Roadmasters Buick built?
They were sold new here and there are always a few on ebay at any one time so I'm guessing there are a few left. Because of the straight 8 they are much unloved. Everybody wants a V8 and although I have a nailhead floating around in storage I'm happy with the engine. To start you push down on the accelerator. Here are some more pics of her and some of my other toys.

I bought this 1938 Austin Ruby at the weekend from a local classic dealer and it should be delivered later this week. This photo makes it look mint but its clearly an eighty year old car in the flesh.

Hi mate,

What is the comfortable cruising speed of a Ruby? I'm guessing it's similar to the 1928 Royal Enfield sidecar outfit I posted above (~35-40mph)?

Depends on what you mean by comfortable, but that sounds about right. They are fairly easy to get a bit more poke out of if needed, plenty of people around to help as well.

I don't have a Ruby but do have an Ulster which will cruise happily at 55 - 60 on a smooth road. The Chummy is more like 40 ish but is pretty standard, the saloons haven't been on the road for years but one is supercharged for racing and is quick, the other is for trials so speed not a priority.

Indeed, there's a few more cars in but not shown. It will fill up in no time, I'm sure. Supposed to be a vehicle storage place.

Lovely..

Always regretted not buying an Alfa when I was younger.. I feel its really the 'right of passage' of a true car enthusiast to own at least one Alfa at some time..
