That demands an explanation! Why has it been sleeping since the early nineties?
Bought new sept 85. Used for 3 years as a everyday car, then a company car turned up. Was then only used on the weekends till very early 90s. Commitments changed so from the early 90s it's only ever had a yearly mot and tax, that stopped at 2002. Since then it's only been driven onto the drive or moved on a trailer.

Original in every way.

I've had all sorts of cars over the years but this ones a keeper, puts a smile on my face every time I open ups it's garage door. Something about this one, 30 years old this year smile

From my under standing there is less than 300 mk3 xr3i left in the uk.
Thanks for the info. There's one that resides in my street as it happens, albeit LHD.

Cheers Chaps.

I've based it on the AA vans colour.

Black Cooper 10" steel rims to go on when I get some tyres.

In the process of doing the ghastly job of sorting the wiring out at the moment.

My 1911 Ford Model T .... Just a pleasure to own.

A trip to the shops and back must be a real adventure in that.

All credit for keeping hold of it for so long and lavishing love on it....but isn't this a bit like leaving the wrapper on a sofa so you don't spoil it? What is the point in keeping it and never using it? Maybe if you have a collection of cars or another which you use regularly and get enjoyment from. Otherwise I don't get it but each to their own. Enjoy it in whatever way pleases you.

Cars need to be used or what are they but lumps of metal. As soon as the ignition Key turns you bring an object to life its one of the most wonderful things we have. If you want to pay homage to a Car then use it.

Thanks for the reply.

Your right really it is a shame not to use it, but I guess this ones become more of an garage ornament to me.

You never know when time allows I may bring her out and get a fresh mot on it smile

I have had collector asking to buy it for coupe of years, I just can't bring myself to part with it.

How do I park it? Carefully, lol. Not that it gets parked in public places a lot these days.

And it's only 18 feet long, not twenty, like that makes a difference.smile And two doors are cool although I understand why you're confused but they did make a lot of four doors as well!
Love your Impala and couldn't agree more re: 2 doors, I have been lusting after a 1963 1/2 Galaxie Fastback with a 427 and 4 on the floor - fortunately I haven't found one in my ideal spec so haven't taken the plunge! Parking and fuel consumption would be my main worries hehe
