How do you wangle getting airside, or is the airport completely shut down and unsecured?
It was shut down in 2001. It is locked up and out of bounds generaly. There was an event taking place and I jumped the chance to park next to the 747. The whole area will soon be developed into a residential/recreation area.

Opportunity to blag some bits off the Olympic fleet when they bring in the diggers! Switch panels and dials from the cockpit are good for dashboard decoration; I had some switches from an HS Trident in the dash of my Lomax; my old man had swiped them from the bin when he worked at Marconi on aircraft simulators. The whole area will soon be developed into a residential/recreation area.
Used to be a regular on here, owned lots of 60s/70s British tin. I do still buy, drive and have fun in British classics but have had some time away from meets / forums etc. I'm now 27, been driving for 10 years and at the last count, had getting on for 70 cars , so I suppose it takes a certain car to feel extra special.
However, yesterday I picked my first American car up and thought this deserved a mention in here....
1972 Dodge Demon.

Nearly went to see that, it was only just down the road from me. I then realised that I had nowhere to put it and no time to play with it. 1972 Dodge Demon.
Bit of trivia (according to Wiki): Dodge gained a version of Plymouth's popular Valiant-based fastback Duster and was to be named the Beaver, but when Chrysler's marketing department learned that "beaver" was C.B. slang for vagina, the vehicle was renamed the Dart Demon.
Hope you enjoy the car.
