Hi All,
I'm new to the forum so thought I'd introduce myself by posting up this pic of our two classics taken yesterday at Willingham Woods near Market Rasen. The MG is my wife's pride and joy and is a Costello conversion now fitted with a 3.9 v8 and 5 speed LT77 box. The Mustang is '65 Fastback with 4 speed toploader which I bought last year. It looks ok in the photo but needs a fair bit of tlc!
Regards,
Dave

I'd suggest to the PHer who asked the question whether MG ever made a desirable car has a look at your wife's car.

That looks a real beast
May I ask whether the front number plate restricts cool air into the engine?
It does not appear to, I also asked that. Temps are well under control. It handles VERY well and the ride is surprisingly good even on our bumpy back roads. Could do with faster steering if I was to be picky, but then it would need EPS to help at very slow speed manoeuvring, also a quicker rack might make it a bit too darty, if I was to compete in it then yes, as it is, its fine. Acceleration once out of second when the wheels just about stop spinning is wonderfully fun May I ask whether the front number plate restricts cool air into the engine?

Very nice fastback. Interested as to how come it's on a B ('64) plate though ... 64 1/2 cars were only ever coupes. Never seen a fastback on a B plate before ...I'm new to the forum so thought I'd introduce myself by posting up this pic of our two classics taken yesterday at Willingham Woods near Market Rasen. Red on red is always good though, what bits require some tlc?

Swapped the 6''x10'' Cosmics over onto my Cooper S to see how they'd look, there's way too much poke to be legal so I might end up fitting some slim Wood & Pickett style arches...
That's a great wheel for a Mini. Prefer the look of the 10" to the later taller ones. I would be less bothered about legality than mud getting sprayed over the bodywork. When I was a kid in the late '60's and early '70's, 6x10 Cosmics were the wheel to get, but a wider steel also looked good. My friend had a lowered Cooper S that was deseamed as well with colour coded trim. Looked great.
Remember this one with its 8 port crossflow head with injection or 4x Bonneville Amal carbs facing forward. Kelform used to make a special bonnet for this (check out the old ads in the likes of HotCar) which looked really tough when fitted with 4x rampipes sticking forward!
I love the way the wider Cosmics make my car look even more toy like, it still needs lowering at the back though, I'm determined to get it done this year. I've lost count of the number of 'naughty wheeled' Minis I've seen at shows over the last twenty odd years which ought to have arch extensions fitted, including several concourse entrants..!
Edit : yes I do remember that 8-port job

The plate is one I've had for a number of years now. Birthday pressie from SWMBO with my initials so its more than my lifes' worth not to use it!Red on red is always good though, what bits require some tlc?
Bits requiring tlc? Paint job is tatty, needs some welding (floorpans) and the interior is completely shot. When I got it last year I intended to get it MOT'd and registered quickly and then get some enjoyment through the summer before taking it off the road and giving it the works. DVLA had other plans unfortunately and I didnt get it registered until the end of October! So this year I'll get some miles on it then start the restoration next year.
