I think they targeted the 6-cyl 3 series cars, rather than the XJ saloons.

It was actually 20cm shorter than a 3-series BMW!

V6 in many different capacities with (no surprises) a turbo for each bank.

Likewise. I've never seen the true logic but I can pretty much remember each one I saw as a child.

I think it ticked many top trump boxes with multiple front lights, multiple rear exhausts but also the lines of the whole car. It was a family saloon that was like no other in a world where the best family saloons were the rounded, classic looking XJ and Shadow.
Hyundai Stellar?

Love 'em.

What do you think after owning one? How's the bork?

Bet they're fun!

I love Maserati and nearly bought a low mileage one back in the late 80s. As it happened I got a brand new Alfa 164 3.0 V6 Lusso. My that engine was glorious, sang like an Italian tenor! Red of course wink

The previous owner undertook a rolling restoration and spent a serious amount getting it perfect, hence it's in great shape. Ghiblis are thin on the ground, let alone for a good one, so it was an easy decision even though it's not a manual. history is everything on these.
280 bhp, 1400kg, no abs, no traction and 225 tyres make it a fun 4 seater.

My friend had a red Karif in the late 1980s, it was lovely. He lent it to another friend to take to Europe for a holiday, where it was written off!

It was done by Guy Croft and came back with a list which to me may as well have been in Chinese, my dad didn't have much more of an idea either!

I believe it was re-bored, forged pistons and rings, gas flowed head etc. but I'd need to find the list for anything else.

You didn't fancy paying a little more for a;

I couldn't handle the thought of a Maserati overhead cam engine breaking so decided on a De Tomaso equivalent which is comparatively pocket change to rebuild..

Your De Tomaso looks lovely, a good friend of mine is nearing the completion of a restoration of a 4.9 Kyalami, he's done heaps himself including an engine rebuild, I hate to think what it would have cost otherwise.
I've always had a real liking for De Tomasos, Freddie Moss used to race a Mangusta in the Auto Italia in the top class whilst I looked up misty eyed in the "up to 1400cc unmodified" category. The speed differential was massive and the noise was glorious, it made it worth while getting lapped.

Guy croft build for the Fiat, that won't have been cheap!
