Well, the spitfire I was in love with has sold.....but not to me unfortunately

Which one was that? Was it from the PH Classifieds? The Spits there are all out of my price range at the moment unfortunately (and the one with the red and blue stripe has been sold!).Id.
There's a decent looking Spit in a classic car mag I picked up, but it's quite a long way away from me, so I'm not too sure. There's also a decent looking Midget near me but I think they're a bit ugly compared to the Spitfire.

That one with the red and blue stripe has been up for sale since I started looking in September last year! I think you had a lucky escape as I think there was likely something rather dramatic wrong with it.
For the record I actually think the Sprite/Midget is a better looking car than the spit, ironically it was the car that men drove when it came out even tho the spit is more rugged looking it was always a girls car.
Here is my MKIV sprite it's getting there, one side is nearly finished...

Maybe I'm just tainted by the incredibly old woman who pootles around in her Midget near me.My dad had a Midget at one point actually, maybe if I had a memory of that it might make them more appealing...
The Spit still looks better though, and with the hard top is stunning. The GT6 is in another league.

Yes, I know I should have acted sooner, yes I am kicking myself, but no, I am not disheartened, I shall find something!
Just, please, no one hold your breath on me posting pictures of a new purchase too soon, I am dithering over what to go for now!

Anyway, you don't buy cars like this, you borrow them.
They will be worth exactly the same amount when you sell them as when you bought it, so you've lost nothing apart from a trifling amount of CC insurance.
The summer is coming, get in there!
Update on the Spitfire front from me: I've actually started looking at cars. Saw one today that looked untidy but seemed to have very little surface rust and decent paintwork. I think it might be massivly underpriced for what it is but I need to keep looking before I buy.
Oh, and if anyone is interested I just got a CC insurance quote at around £500 for 3000 miles. Nod bad if you think my insurance now on a corsa is £1500!

Sort of epitomises what cars and driving should all be about.
That Jensen SP looks lovely. Back in the 80's the guy who owned the local electrical repair shop had one. Yellow with black leather, mint, used to show it and often won best Jensen. I used to pop in now and again just to oggle and sit in it, smell the leather and pretend it was mine.
Back in 1988 he offered it to me for £9,000, I was 27 at the time. His daughter had just got married, she used to attend the shows with him and as his wife had no interest in it so he decided to sell it. I had only been in business for myself for one year and it was just too much money at the time. He ended up selling it to the guy who owned the local butchers shop. He kept it 9 months and sold it for £18,000.
Sorry to wander off topic a bit. Obsessing. I need a euro lottery win, a bloody huge garage and a full time mechanic. Then I can truly obsess to my hearts content.

Fortunately, or maybe, unfortunately, I've driven many stripped out or race spec cars in my time, and the one that's always eluded me is the F40, sadly... I knew a chap who owned one a few years ago and always promised a track event out with it for me (the public highway runs were never going to match a track event)... But he basically ran out of money and had to sell it.
Stripped out high delivery cars are definitely not everyone’s cups-of-tea, I'm nursing a neck muscle strain thanks to the rally’wreck (for the second time in 2 months), but as a driving weapon, the F40 provides sensory overload, I doubt there's much else out there that'll make you giggle like a 12 year old schoolboy.
