Wonderful to read so much Facel input! I have a few messages for individuals following their contributions.

1.d.wilde. Thanks for all your 'blue car' pics. As you are aware, 432 EMW is mine, on the road, driven yesterday. The one I didn't recognise was F64MAN, but perhaps you're not allowed to say who such a car belongs to...
Facelvega and facelman might also like to note that in the pic of LNG44, you can see that there are no 'turrets' on the front bumper. (Not very technical term, maybe facelman has a better one.) Whether the car now has those turrets I'm not sure. I know that Freddy wanted to try and put the car back to standard, in spite of its idiosyncracies.
Thanks also, d.wilde, for the list of owners. I have several 'lists' and I'm trying to make them all into one document; not sure how I can print off that one.
Thanks also for the pics of Rob with his car. He was such a great character. We miss him in F1; hardly a race goes by without someone telling a Rob story, attempting his languid voice.
And thanks, finally, for the lovely pic of your own car in such a beautiful setting. I hope that's yours too!

2. Motown Junk. Well, that makes three Facels out and about recently. I think that car belongs to a Mr Green of Lymington or thereabouts. It was restored about eight years ago or so. Its registration is HK K1D (geddit?)

3. facelman. Aha, so this is where you lurk. Glad to hear that you're still and alive and kicking too! How amazing to have so many local Facels. We must come and visit sometime.

4. DaveP As Fanelli mentions, Charlie Drake was somewhat short in stature and prior to the elevation of his seat there were, apparently, several minor brushes with the scenery as he couldn't see the outer reaches of his car.

5. Facelvega. I can, as above, assure you that 432EMW is on the road and used! Incidently, there are several associations with Facel 11s and Dorset in the past, particularly due to Sherborne School. The Vandervell mentioned as an owner should be Tony Vandervell whose son, Colin, was at Sherborne, as was Rob Walker's son, Robbie. There was a great story about how Colin Vandervell told all his schoolmates how his father had the first Mercedes 300SL in the UK and then in swept Rob in his... Probably rubbish but it makes a good tale.

6. Fanelli. Great to hear more on Richard Wrottesly. I have a friend called Colin Adams who, for some reason, used to borrow and race some of RW's cars. The Elva certainly rings more than a bell because it was in that car, as a teenaged passenger wedged in the back (it was a rare coupe) that I first travelled at 100mph, on the Halnaker straight near Goodwood. I remember Colin also used his Daimler SP250.

It's great to hear more and more stories about Facels; I'm building up a dossier on the owners of Facel 11s, Excellences and Facellias.

That's enough for now. Keep it coming!
4/5/6 th of June would be a good time to visit, although this usually clashes with english events. There is the 500 Ferraris against cancer meeting at our local circuit Val de Vienne Le Vigeant. There was a Facel presence last year and promised for this year as well.My daughter was at the circuit on wednesday trying her Bugatti T37 for the first time. https://picasaweb.google.com/jarbarton/BugattiType...

Well well,I know very few people with first hand recollections of facels in their heyday and RS [ Victoria de las cascades ] is one, having bought the Ringo Starr car when it was fairly new [lucky man].

I am still lost! Was Victoria de las Cascades a synonym for Ringo Starr? I have tried Google but cannot find a connection. Sorry if I am being obtuse.

One of my other recollections of the Charlie Drake Facel 2 was breaking down in it and telephoning the AA for assistance. They asked what make and model of car I was in and receiving my response "Facel Vega", there was a stunned silence and they asked me how to spell it!

The reason for the breakdown was a broken wire to the condensor in the distributor so pretty minor really and they were able to locate the fault and fix it by the roadside so full marks to them.

Hi there - I agree with Bob Constandouros - the car you have seen is that owned by Fred Page - Roberts and before that by Paul De Rivas. Why don't more of you join the Facel Vega Car Club? We have just over 50 UK members and arrange a couple of functions a year - the club is inexpensive and open to enthusiasts as well as owners. Get in touch with me if you are interested in coming to our next event to judge for yourselves if this something you would like to do.In the meantime - nice to see so much interest in these wonderful cars. Richard Hollis Here is my small Facel 3 - one of only two on the UK roads - shortly to be joined by a third which is full restoration at the moment.

Hi Richard,

Welcome to our little forum. Now you are the man that might know how many Facel 11's and HK500's are on the road? Hope your well. Regards, Adam Sherring.

Incidently, a new Facel II was spotted last tuesday, it's HK2B151, this model was tested by Martin Buckley in Classic ans Sports Car few years ago. http://www.flickr.com/photos/robertpool/with/56665...

Here is the Charlie Drake car in London 1963, I found these pictures on eBay. The car would be in France now but I never saw it...

Sorry one tends to think that all facel owners know everyone ! RS is the estimed registrar of the Facel club in the UK.He has all the records and has been quite relentless in his search for all the UK cars and their histories. His psuedo for some years was Victoria [no I have no idea why he should identify with the Victoria Falls !]

XFS7 is surely not "new" ? Was this not one of Richard Stevens Facel IIs,used in the dreadful film "The Dealer"? It is sometimes kept in Saudi apparently.

Yes you are right,It is one of Richard Stevens Facel IIs but not XFS 7.XFS7 was Nick Barkers car.I did quite a bit of work on that car.Nick had also an HK 500,and the lovely convertable FV 2 which is also owned by the new owner of XFS 7.Arabs buy in bulk.I just wish that people would stop swopping registration numbers,it makes life very confusing !

HK2A122,[now in malysia]

John, are you sure that HK2A122 is the malaysian car ?

I have a picture of this car when you owned it. The interior was blue and look at the exterior mirrors.

Now, I have few pics of the malaysian car, mirrors have changed and the interior is tan. Do you think it's the same car ?

The steering wheel looks the same, it's a non original one with black leather.

This is probably the only convertable Facel II.I found that the Lionel Bart car [A101]was so rusty that a radical conversion was justified.I am quite happy with the result.
