Yes, those two HK500s belong to our respected member Adam who, I believe, may even now be taking one of them to France for the week. If you see him give him a wave; it's been a long road getting those cars mobile.

I believe that I cleared up my own mystery of the Facel Vega for sale on Saturday evening. I visited the EZ Power Steering stand where there was a Dutch- or Belgian-owned FV2 fitted with their power steering system. It is this rare car that is for sale at €150,000. It was one of those confusions between the early FV2 and the later HK2, easily made if you're unfamiliar with the models. The power steering system was quite interesting and felt good. Look them up on www.ezpowersteering.com. (Hope I'm allowed to mention that...) And more on my Facel Vega website (ditto).

A rare FV1 was also in the car park.

I remember as a child in the 70's a friend of my Dad's had some land off shirland mews in maida vale, there were various dumped cars there one was a silver Facel Vega. AS it was "worthless" I was allowed to play in it. From memory it had a push button auto box it was silver with I think a blue interior and the dash was painted metal to look like wood. I always wondered if it was ever rescued

Just watched a brief piece on these two cars on the "Goodwood: Classic Cars" programme on ITV4 last night.

Here's a picture that turned up on my TVR Chimaera Facebook page, taken at a classic meet in the Pyrenese a couple of weeks back. smile

What does the HK500 nomenclature stand for?

Thanks for posting that ad re the HK500. I'm amused at some of the wording in the ad as to how much the car is worth. An apparently restored car is coming up for auction at Bonhams in February with an estimate at £130-170,000, so £125,000 for an unrestored car would seem a bit steep. And buying an unrestored car is the easy bit!

HK500 relates to the power-to-weight ratio of five kilos per horsepower.

Thank you.

Seems a little churlish to talk Facel Vega and money, but I did think the asking price was a little optimistic.

I love that the description mentions this car was taken to Santa Pod by a previous owner, who got it down the strip in an impressive 15 seconds!

Eventually I have sold ANO 45A. After a long time with Vintage and Prestige I understand it has left the country as it is no longer a registration recognised by DVLA.

I did as much improving as I could whilst I had it, which included an engine rebuild because it ran all the crankshaft bearings. A reground and some new straight valves made for a much sweeter motor.

Finished article from my point of view:

Correction with respect to this car's location. It's registration is still recognised by DVLA and there is no export marker on it.

Problem was DVLA did not recognise the make as FACEL VEGA but it did recognise FACELVEGA

I hope I have found the right forum! I recently acquired a RHD Facel II in the UK. Are there any marque experts in the UK who can look after a Facel? Most seem to be in Holland.....Any suggestions gratefully received.
Thanks.

Hello John,
Colin Schubert here. I don't know if you remember me. I was interested in Facels many years ago.
Now retired from 40 years at British Airways.
Owning a Facel was always a dream but I think I've missed the boat price wise so will have to remain a dream !!
Regards
Colin
