So IF the stig is a multiple personality does that make the lap times pointless?

Yes. However, for the road car runs I'm reliably informed that it is one person. The only time it was someone different was when they ran the Renault F1 car, then it was one of Renault's F1 testers (Frank Montagny I've been informed).

So the other runs should be comparable. Albeit that they do them in the wet and the dry, which has never made sense to me.

erm, apart from the fact they have several goes at getting the top lap time for each car. if you have several comparable drivers surely they are going to get similar times.

I really meant that doing the runs in the wet, especially with cars that people really want to know 'is it the best' is frustrating, as it skews the results somewhat.

i agree, i dont understand why they run in the wet to be honest as the the results are meaningless.

All the cars are driven on the original rims as far as can be done i guess.
The rain is just one more attestament to how good the car has been designed.

Now, read my first posting on this subject again, I've added in enough clues
to solve the puzzle. If Top Gear is you fancy, and you name isnt Hansie then
you have all you need right there.

But remember, this is my candidate, my best educated pick.
I want to wait this one out, see if I'm right.
The legend goes on, the elusive one still rules supreme.

More significant than different drivers, I think they've found quicker ways around the track, so the cars they tested early on - using different lines - won't be as good as those they test today. Clarkson's Suzuki Liana time of 1:50 looks pretty poor - I guess in the bottom half, but that was set when they started.

The whole idea of the stig is that any one of numerous drivers can be available to perform.

So if Perry Mccarthy is busy one day, Julian Bailey can be called. If hes busy then how about Damon Hill. Good idea.

Right idea wrong people!!!

Always found it interesting that Damon Hill and Mark Webber both took a different line around a corner then the Stig. Both were quicker, and both times Clarkson said "thats a differnet line".

Sop, putting two and two together then...
