I never knew you Ian,
Only what you wrote,
I’d sometimes see your footage,
Of car or plane or boat.
A Pistonheader like the rest,
I’d read your posts on here,
More so now, I’d love to chat,
Or just to share a beer.
You’ve touched the hearts of many folk,
More so now you’ve gone,
You really seemed a decent bloke,
But something was all wrong.
Its oft’ too late for peoples thoughts
To turn to those who care,
I’m as sorry as the rest,
We were truly unaware.
In family and on internet,
You’ll be missed for sure,
Christ, I hardly knew you!
But I wish you’d stayed for more.
May we give you something back,
Just as a little token,
We’ll never think of anyone else,
Whenever we see the Vulcan.
Vulcan 558’s farewell flypast
indeed. Well said Lazy
A legacy will be his wonderful and varied contributions to PH and his highly enjoyable videos.
It is to his wife and kids that my heart really goes out to at this time.
I pray that you all receive the strength to endure, at a time when there will undeniably be, more questions than answers.

All Is Well
Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped into the next room
I am I and you are you
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used
Put no difference in your tone,
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was,
Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It it the same as it ever was, there is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near,
Just around the corner.
All is well.

Like so many, I only knew him through his videos & posts. I still rate his "Year in the life..." video as one of the most evocative explanations of just what a love of fine machinery & burbling & hooning & fixing & fettling is all about.
Ian, you'll be missed by more than you could ever imagine. Peace.
To Ian's family I'd ask that they take solace in the thoughts expressed by this thread, an expression of respect & regard for Ian spread throughout the PH Community.
The thoughts of many, near & far, are with you at this awful time.
