doesn't do a lot of miles, its a tvr, its always broken down.
Really pushing the envelope of automotive humour there...
That's right Ted, he should have said nearly always...
Another non owner slagging off a car they have never owned, Would you like me to have a dig at morgans? it would be very easy, really it would.
Don't be silly it was a joke............
ps. I've owned three TVR's in the past btw................

isnt that the point of this thread to educate people to use the aplications in your profile so people can see what you have owned or not owned and therefore have an opinion about that posters point of view.
Sorry can't be arsed with all that, I bet a significant percentage of PH's profiles are bogus anyway, Jon Dokic, Maranello, are just two that spring to mind..........
I could very easily post a picture of an Enzo outside a mansion, does not mean they are mine.........

i thought it was to highlight features of the website that might be seldom used. i didn't realise it was mandatory to use them.

Its not manatory but this exchange has highlighhted how listing previous cars would have avoided a misunderstanding.

now you see i thought putting in a smiley should have helped in any misunderstanding, so you're saying i can only take the mickey if you look at my profile, and i've owned a tvr?
the irony is, i know very little about modern tvr's, and the only reason i know there may be reliability issues was due to people taking the mickey out of them on this very website, and people like you biting and going off on one.
does it help that my last car (alfa 156) was so unreliable i got rid of it...does that allow me to comment?

Hang on, you base your views on TVR's from "people taking the mickey out of them"
i haven't stated my views on tvr's, i've just taken the mickey out them for being unreliable
do you deny that tvr's have a reputation for not being the most reliable car out there?

They are usually comically easy to spot, though. I'm sure a recent F40 imposter had some preposterous scenario of going out "cruising" in the Ferrari but using a 1.2 Corsa for everything else including performance driving. Well, whatever "performance" driving you can do in a car that would accelerate faster if you opened the tailgate and broke wind.
If all else fails, the Ambrosia test is a good one. Ask for someone to place a tin of custard (or other common household object) on the dashboard and take a photo from outside the car, showing the object. The randomness means you can't just use a library picture, and reflection/refraction from the windscreen makes it a pain in the arse to photoshop with any hint of realism.
I like the profile because it does help you see where people are coming from, automotively. It's not authoritative (for example, I've driven a lot more cars than the ones I've owned) but quite revealing when someone posts a strong, controversial and somewhat dubious opinion about, say, Skyline vs. M3 when their profile says "Nissan Micra 1.1, it's my mums car really and I've only got a provisional license, but great fun to go round roundabouts quickly".
Maybe as a step towards getting new members to fill it out, Ted should have the thing initialise by default with "Current car: Reliant Kitten | Previous car: Reliant Robin".
(My apologies to any Robin or Kitten owners feeling slated by the above.)

I agree with cotty, TVR's are holy. When people slag them off it really gets on my tits !!!
Funnily enough, the only car I have had the privilage of breaking down in right outside a military base with was a TVR. When I wanted to walk to a garage (about 2 miles) to get some spanners, they wouldn't let me go until it had been cleared for explosives. Still, cracking car when it worked, I overtook the most cars I've ever overtaken in one go in that thing :sorry:

Not everyone's as 'dedicated' as you though Cotty - I mean how many other people do you know who actually ask advice on which car photo they should have in their profile? That thread almost made me stop coming to PH out of sad-emabarrassment I'm afraid.
