By 'decent sounding feature' do you mean a crash that has left him serverly injured.

Posted on wikipedia:

'He was severly injured in a car crash while filming for Top Gear on 20th September 2006 at an airfield near York. He was driving a jet powered car travelling at 280mph in an attempt to break the land speed record for England. He is being treated at Leeds general infirmary and is currently in a critical condition.'

My fingers are however crossed for the hampster; I hope he's ok. I do actually like his presenting style on TG.

Looking at the Sky article he was clocked at 280mph when the car flipped. 280mph and he survived... bugger me.

Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery.

However given that it's been blowing a gale up here all day the wisdom of doing a high speed run on a wide-open airfield (Elvington i assume ?) is questionable at best...

Yes - poor bugger. But what a way to get injured! 280mph!

Hope he gets well very, very soon...

I hope he's ok, and recovers without too much trauma

I like the hamster

But to echo others, I hope this doesn't mean a change in the way they do stuff.

I sincerely hope that he's OK. Unlike one of the posters above, I hope that the Top Gear team will be left alone to continue with the 'dangerous and childish' antics that have kept me entertained for the last few seasons. I don't believe any of the presenters are doing anything they don't want to.
