more of the same. Always enjoyed watching him and the banter on topgear. Fingers crossed for you Mr Hammond.

Yikes a roll at 280 doesnt sound good, hopefully as the chute had deployed he'd lost a fair bit of speed.

hope it all works out chap

I'll echo all the sentiments above except for the couple of crass comments that have appeared. I can only assume grief has overcome or you is very pissed indeed!!

He's got wife and kids too! think how they feel before posting your thoughts on his contribution to broadcasting.

Get well soon..

But to echo others, I hope this doesn't mean a change in the way they do stuff.

I hope not too. I can see the "Speed Kills" people being all over this like a bad rash; totally ignoring the fact he was doing an insane speed in an insane car... and whilst badly injured is reported as stable.

Hope he gets well.

In the meantime, who the hell let him (an amateur) drive a jet car at 300 mph? Utter stupidity. I've seen these things at Santa Pod and the damn things astonishing, and should never be driven by anyone who's not had thousands of hours of practise - in my opinion.

280 in itself isn't so bad as long as he had adequate space to slow down without hitting anything.

Fingers crossed for a shaken but not stirred outcome.

Not anymore there isn't.

I expect he shat himself as well.

Nothing wrong with a bit of black humour, but I wish the dwarf a swift recovery.

He does have an msa race licence and does a bit of racing so not exactly unqualified....

I very much doubt even craig breedlove has thousands of hours in a jet car !!!!

Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery.

However given that it's been blowing a gale up here all day the wisdom of doing a high speed run on a wide-open airfield (Elvington i assume ?) is questionable at best...

It wasn't all that windy in York today (I'm a mile or so from elvington).
