My advice, attack is always the best line of defence. Confront her, ask her what her announcement is because it's causing your OH to lose sleep/stress etc...etc....

Then speak to your OH about what she thinks it might be.

If you have to 'fess up then come clean, duck for cover and take the invective like a man. You didn't boink her while you were 'together' so I can't see the crime here.
