Have had it on in the background for most of the day, just a glance every now and then to see who's performing.

All this Global Warming carbon stuff is just being blown out of proportion. It's just the new "buzz word(s)" at the moment. Lets be honest, is a concert going to be the solution to every problem?

Is there a problem then?tumbleweed

The thing i find a problem is all the hot air coming out of politicians mouths, producing enough CO2 to suffocate the lot of us.

That's the thing, the majority of people will believe anything the media/politicians say, so to them, there must be a 'problem'. coffee

Loved that last short film, I may have missed the point that they were trying to make but for me the moral of that story was stop building on the feckin flood plains!

I think they were making the point that if we don't all revert back to living in a cave, eating raw meat and shaving with flints, the whole earth will be covered in 60ft of water...

Next we'll have Madonna on stage butchering babies, chanting 'fcuk you, fcuk you - this is climate change, THIS IS CLIMATE CHANGE'!

rolleyesrolleyesrolleyesrolleyesrolleyes

The human race has more than enough problems at the moment, we don't need to make up any others. At times we can be a sensitive, intelligent and innovative bunch - sadly, this isn't one of those days.

at least i know that alcohol has not affected my "good taste glands"

whats even more irritating is that i dont even believe in "global warming" .. or at least not thier version of it.

Always foxes them once you mention Global Dimming, the fact that damage is already done, and the heat up is now happening because they are the ones cleaning up the atmosphere!!

ETA - "Fall Out Boy"?!?!? who the fcuk?!?! can tell its the dead time in Europe, drag out all the crap unknowns.

This entire thing is oxymoronic hypocrisy at best. Either the perfomers know, and don't care or they are actualy more stupid than we think (know?)

Either way, they should stick to their chosen vocations and entertain us. I mean, I don't want my Gardner to perform brain surgey on me and I sure don't want environmental or political advice from my minstrels. Just entertain me monkey boys and back off to the room and a bong for you so that you can be creative enought to come up with a new CD.

Little known tidbit about Pope Albert the Pious (Gore) : He justifies his "carbon footprint" because he buys "carbon offsets" which are payments to an alternative energy development company equal to what his footprint is.

Fair enough.

Except.

He's a part owner of the company.

In my world, they call that "buying stock"

biggrin

It doesn't matter, because they are "raising awareness" rolleyes
I know it's from the Daily Tale but here's a few interesting stats

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/femail/artic...
How fuel efficient are private jets compared to commercial flights? Is it more fuel efficient for Madonna to take her entourage of 100 or whatever and fill a private jet or travel on a half full commercial flight?

yes

The morning local radio news over here got it right, they gave a few seconds to some shrill bint on stage harping on about starting a revolution - apt choice of soundbite comrades - then pointed out the pointlessness of staging several large rock concerts when claiming to support the enviwonment and thinking of the childwen, when all they do is produce loads more pollution...unless Gore sells them some snake oil antidote, but they missed that bit. Also mentioned that everybody is stuffed to the sally gunwales with ferkin climate change hype so how can awareness be raised when it's already at overload level.

Great reporting biggrin

Seemed like just another Glastonbury to me... pop stars out for PR and free publicity, 'fans' having a party when they should be doing something useful... and a massive chunk of TV airtime filled to make things easy for the schedulers. Extrapolate this and before long there'll be a 12-hour 'good cause' rock concert on every day and nobody will do anything.

Let's just hope that normal people get so sick of 'climate change' being rammed down their throats that it's suddenly all seen as a sham.

Just woken up after getting in late from Wembley last night. All in all, I don't think the eco propaganda the organisers wanted to put out went down too well with the majority of the crowd. Most of them it appeared were there just for the bands, including me. The text voting thing got about half the votes that Germany had got and they had to keep bringing on Russell f**king Brand on to try and get a few more texts sent.

On a more important note, Metallica and Foo Fighters rocked the place and seemed to get the best reception from the crowd. Spinal Tap were funny for the first song and the ensemble was good to see. Keane did well and I quite liked Corrine BailieRae. Pussycat Dolls WTF? James Blunt almost redeemed himself with Wild World. Beastie Boys I thought were a little disappointing though that may be due to the dodgy acoustics. We left half through Madge to catch the train home.

So, will this gig stop me from flying to holiday destinations or driving the car I want? No.

Would I go again if they held one next year? Sure, why not?
