... Irish neutrality was the best tactic for the Allies too.
So is this why they still left all thier lights on at night?... and enable the German Bombers to use it as a beacon to find Manchester & Liverpool ... Irish neutrality was the best tactic for the Allies too.

Your joking right?
Is this the same USA that was selling oil to Ze Germans, arms and aid to the UK, but also banking Hitlers cash? Check out George Bush's grandfather for more info. He was presidant of one of the big USA banks at the time.

it'll end up with a conspiracy that George Bush's grandfather once knew someone who worked at this bank, whose boss was a Nazi, and by this strange link, somehow the Bush family is complicit in WW2 which was just a ruse to build an oil pipeline across France, because someone somewhere discovered oil in Liechtenstein. then by some miraculous link they find a link between WW2 and 9/11. and before we know it, noMoore will be making yet another Lyingmentary just about the time an election comes around, which will also coinside with noMoore getting down to his last $40m in his bank account.

Switzerland isn't a wholly homogeneous country either - they can't all agree on a common language, the cantons are pretty fiercely independent and the Valaisannes are a bunch of nutters (love 'em though).
Being landlocked they're also rather nationally paranoid about being invaded, so have plenty of bunkers and *everyone* has to undergo basic weapon training and have an automatic rifle at home (IIRC) - it also helps that they have lots of mountains to get past...
As to the national psyche - well as I said, they're not all the same, but their 'neutrality' runs deep, they will take advantage of any situation with their neighbours in general and don't really give two figs about 'alliances' unless it benefits them.
WW2, as long as they played everyone off against each other, was a golden (apologies) opportunity to profit.
IME the Swiss I've met aren't the easiest people (as a generalisation) to bond with easily (compared to, say, going for a pint with an Irishman) - the guys from the Valais region are much more fun but that may be because I speak much better French than German...

What's with this "English" thing. It really boils my piss when the Irish and the rest of the World for that matter want to have a poke, they always quote the "English.
There was a disproportionate number of Scots in the Black and Tans.
That's how the British Empire worked:There was a disproportionate number of Scots in the Black and Tans.
- The Scots took the profit.
- The English took the blame.
