You know when you were in primary school at Christmas time you were given a shoe box and asked to fill it with useful things like toothbrushes and pencils then they'd all be sent to some African country.

Well this year we should fill every single box with teddy bears with "Mohammed" written on them. Maybe take a shit in each box too.

Indeed. I found it quite odd, and quite frankly insulting that we needed two MUSLIM Lords to go over. What is wrong with any two diplomats??
Two traditional English Diplomats wouldn't be acceptable.

I cant see them pretending outrage for the cameras whilst agreeing when in the closed door negotiations.

Without damning a whole religion because of a few (hundred thousand) bad eggs, Islam has no place in england. We are a christian country, and unless people wish to live by our standards they should be deported to whence they came.

regarding the poor teacher, the SAS should be sent it to release her, and all ties with Sudan severred.

Dont with Britain should be the message here.

(any Muslims who disagree, I'm happy to discuss at any time when you can show me where in the Koran is says the name Mohammed cannot be used by a teddy bear)

it won't end no matter how much the so called 'moderates' want it to.. this backward way of life called islam has to be slowly chipped away at til it dies out and so called 'moderates' living here in the west is actually a start to their bogus religion being diluted to the point they can integrate. This is why we must welcome more 'moderates' as they are half way to being freed from this culture. And this does also apply to Christians and Catholics etc.. Imams, Priests covering up child abuse and the like.. disgusting and this situ in sudan, the comic book, Rushdie etc is actually a good thing; because it just exposes islam to the world better than any individual could ever...

That seems a little silly - Africa is a big continent so sending physical aid like classroom materials is surely still a good thing.. the question here is specific countries that are known to reap aid and use it in unethical ways. Sudan being an example of this regardless of the teddy incident.

Well I guess it really is true, damned if u do and damned if you don't.

Perhaps 2 Muslim peers might be in a better position to poin tout how ing ridiculous this is and how nonsensical, religiously, this issue is.

But perhaps they shouldn't do anything at all.....
The two Muslim Peers are on a private visit. They do not officially represent the UK Government. They have gone of their own volition to try and diffuse the situation and also to counter criticism that the Muslim community in the UK is doing nothing to help. I personally do not believe that they will be successful in negotiating an early release for her.(She's only got a few more days to serve anyway). Any concessions that the Sudanese Government are seen to make will be seen as a sign of weakness within Sudan.

FWIW, I think that every country has a right to decide its own laws within reason. In this case, I don't feel that because a foreigner has chosen to move there and broken that law, earning herself a 15 day prison sentence that she wouldn't have in her own country, that that is reason enough for that country's government to change it. Surely the onus lies with visitors - particularly those to a country with religious sensitivities and particularly if they were going to be teachers in that country - to do a little research before they arrive and perhaps even err on the side of caution? I certainly would expect that of visitors to my home country.

And therin lies the problem. Christian goes to Muslim country, abide by laws, or else. And thats a BIG 'or else.'

Muslim goes to Christian country. Ahhh, go on, run riot. Call for beheadings and bus bombings. Nothing will happen to you.

It'd be nice if our visitors in the UK showed us a little respect. After all, doors swing both ways.

The point is, love this country and it's fabric, or leave it/don't come here.

If you don't agree with alcohol intake, equal rights/education for Women, freely available pornography, or anything else that offends your religious leanings, then fine, thats your life to live, but then the UK isn't really a place you should want to come to, is it?

And if you have a UK passport, but feel that life is so much better for you based on your religious faith elsewhere, then feel free to leave and not look back. Emigrate. Goodbye.

The overwhelming majority of indiginous Uk does not want beheading demonstrations over cartoons, nor bus bombs, nor Sharia law, nor burning jeeps at airports. Deal with it.
