I'm pretty confident they would find it harder to recruit from a pool of people who had a better education and commercial prospects.

Anyone from any walk of life can be brain washed but it becomes harder the higher up the chain you go. R
Atta and his mates were well educated and not exactly poor

Ditto the london tube bombers

Ditto the Glasgow idiots

You need to look elsewhere for the motivations?
Hi,

You are right and I covered this in the post.

When you look at the ME. the majority are just poorly educated and futureless youngsters.

Youngsters of any background are quite easily radicalised, God, I remember enough people at Uni who became hard core left wing but since growing up I seem them wandering around the City in stripes.

Even our beloved leader was hardcore left but evolved, as did Jack Straw (both still s though).

Basically, there are obviously the pure radicals but by far the easiest to recruit are the young and hopeless and that is exactly what is going on.

It also happens in Africa when they kidnap the kids and brainwash them to go out and murder other tribes. It happens here, it happens in the US, in happens all over the world. Always has and always will.

But then you look at the world and see that where there is wealth, prosperity, education and employment the breeding ground for radicals and the opportunities for exploiting children are vhastly reduced.

A Muslim surgeon saved my life a few years ago.

I'm glad his parents came over here, but I'm being selfish.
WTF has his religion got to do with it?

A surgeon saved your life by competently and professionally doing the job he was paid and trained to do.

Defining people, or people defining them selves by their religion is half the problem.

People should define themselves bu what they do as opposed to which blind, unproven faith they happen to agree with.

The man was a surgeon, who just happened to beleive in the muslim faith.

Would you agree then, that the mob who wanted the Brit teacher executed were simply ultra-conservative morons who just happened to believe in the muslim faith?

the thing here is not to get too hung up over religion. just don't go to countries that have draconian laws and practices which obviously should have ended 300 years ago. if those ways of living are in place its not much good people here moaning after the horse has bolted. where i am with beemer 5 and the others who are outraged is this. we have to curtail our ways of living/stop people celebrating christmas/change road signs even to not offend muslims yet id like to see you try stopping them celebrating the stuff they believe in. its all one way and we fall over backwards to make other faiths feel at home. that should end and we should put our own first.

IMHO they probably consider themselves Muslims above all else and believe that they are absolutely right in what they are doing.
I suspect they would consider anyone who disagrees as not being a true Muslim.

The fact that they were, allegedly stirred up by their religious leaders does not help matters.

As I posted much earlier in this thread, as we seem to have so little in common with these people other that to dish out aid all the time, perhaps its time we stopped trying to reason with them and withdraw all aid, support and relations with them.

Amy one in the UK who feels that these people are right and that the UK is wrong get a one way ticket there.

No interaction = No agro, no well meaning teachers under threat of death or 40 lashes. We can spend the aid on good causes here in the UK.

Remember it was not the angry mob that took her to court and sentenced her.
That was done by their authorities.
If the roles had been reversed no action would have been taken against a Muslim teacher who insulted C of E, RC or any other religion.
Pull all out Do-gooders out, deport all their nationals living here and try to pretend the whole nasty thing never happened.
The next time they want aid em!

You go to pakistan and try and push your religion there and they'll have you hanging from a tree in the blink of an eye - yet they come over here and we bend over backwards to accommodate them and they still complain.

A muslim guy at work wants seperate showers built for him so he can do WADA or something - bascially its his faith and it requires him to wash during the day in a certain way or something. Now my attitude was off and go and wash yourself in the pond outside, but no we have to bend over backwards so we don't offend him !!!

I'm not sure there's any point in posting this, but here goes......

For a start, there are OTHER religious groups in Pakistan. My aunt, for instance, is a Pakistani catholic, of which there are quite a lot. There are churches, and many convent schools, which are regarded as the best in that country. No one would pretend that other religious groups aren't subject to ill-treatment, however, that's what makes this country (Britain) great.

Secondly, the guy at your work wants to do wudu, it is a ritual washing prior to prayer. He doesn't need a special shower. All he needs is running water, a sink and a tap will do. Do some research and tell him that, or no, go and tell him to wash in a pond, which would be the mature and reasonable thing to do.

Yeah I'll tell him to wash in the pond, maybe his dirty oversized beard can provide a natural habitat for the ducks.

No he leaves beard hairs all over the desk and he stinks as well - plus he has this stupid idea that putting the bottom of his jeans into his socks is a cool thing to do. What a knob.

PS - Do you follow all my posts or something - wherever I am you seem to pop up?

No, but as I've contributed to this thread, it appears in my stuff list.

Yeah, he dresses in a silly way and has a big beard, so what? Are you such a small person that you can't accept that someone looks or dresses a bit differently?

On the subject of beards and odd dress habits, I suggest you leave Santa a pie and a note telling him he's a fat beardy shite, who tucks his trousers into his boots.

Hmmmm...
this got me wondering in a "philisophical" sense to ponder a burning question....

If I bought a teddy for a tenner, named it Mohammed then sold it for £20.

Have I made a prophet?

bandit
(sorry if someone has already had the same ponder)
