ahh, i remember the frog changed it all
it was mostly plastic so didn't appear good quality but in fact it was much more robust and lasted far far better. It spelt out the demise of the rough rider, the baja buggy and the Super Champ which I had. It was near the top of the range for its time but it was actually terribly flawed because all those brittle metal wishbones kepy craking into pieces at the slightest provocation.

Nothing could quite beat:

We used to collect the late 80s/early 90s Lego System City and Train. I also collected Pirates, while my brother collected the Space stuff.

I had one of these for christmas once, and I was as excited about getting it as a kid today would be about a PS3:

We had a guy at primary school who played with sylvanians and went skipping with the girls. The rest you can probably guess.

Death was the ultimate card IIRC

How can Death only have a killing power of 95?

The Stylophone; apparently quite collectable now but fecking annoying when my sister got one for Xmas back in the 70's

The space hopper is probably THE most useless toy ever and I suspect most were discarded and left outside by lunchtime on Xmas day

Marbles
Lego Technic - I had a white american style truck. It sat on my window sill for many years, when I moved in my (now) wife I tried to convince her that it was a retro ornament but she was having none of it.

I think my mum ended up taking it all into the school that she worked at in the end.
