I can't believe
hasn't been mentioned yet.
I remember one Christmas my grandad presented my brother and me with a HUGE box of track (he'd been collecting it all year from car boot sales) that was enough to make a track around the whole house
I was just Googling for a picture of the 70's figure of 8 with speed bank sides.hasn't been mentioned yet.

Optimus Prime and Scalextric (no idea if that's the correct speeling).
I remember getting my first scalextric at christmas and refusing to open any more presents untill my dad had set it up. Really want to get a set now!!!

ahh, i remember the frog changed it allit was mostly plastic so didn't appear good quality but in fact it was much more robust and lasted far far better. It spelt out the demise of the rough rider, the baja buggy and the Super Champ which I had. It was near the top of the range for its time but it was actually terribly flawed because all those brittle metal wishbones kepy craking into pieces at the slightest provocation.
Some more from my childhood:
Castle Greyskull:
The 'Thunder tank'
Bonds Aston complete with ejector seat (still got mine!)
I used to play with these for hours. Cue mate coming over, taking about 200 army men each, setting them up at opposite ends of the room and rolling marbles into the 'enemy forces!'

Philips MSX. There was a game that had to be loaded with a tape player called The Dambusters... absolutely unplayable, as you had to change views between cockpit, engineer, bomber and gunner and evrything took 15 minute to load. Brilliant platform with conventional cartdridge game though. Loved it
I'm off to ebay now.
