Are you sure that this isn't just an excuse for the first 'relationship issue' thread of 09?

I remain unconvinced.
I'm in a genuine quandary.

She'll probably only find it in the bin anyway.
You are not wrong.
Actually I've had a slight second thought on this...

Try Penny's advice, try for the 'late-night make up hug'... BUT... leave the banner up!

If the hug works... you might get lucky AND prove your point in the morning when she wanders down stairs!

You might just get your cake, and eat it!
hehe I like your thinking thumbup

No, no, no. Put a claymore by the door to the spare bedroom. You will thank me later.

Take it down then. If you are sitting and fretting over it, you obviously don't believe the banner is the correct thing to do. Be a man of action!

Some camouflage facepaint for sir? Perhaps a Ghillie suit? Hmm?

I honestly have no idea.

"My opinion is x"
"My opinion is y"
"We don't agree, I'm going to bed."

Were you disagreeing over the banner?

No, that hasn't come up yet.

The look on her face will be priceless as she thinks, "What's that pressure against my knee?"

Did the original banner say "Will You Marry Me?"

In which case you might as well leave the new banner where it is.

As Alan Davies once said, once there's a row in the room there's nothing you can do about it. She needs a row/sulk/tantrum (delete as applicable) and she's going to have one, and you happen to be nearest victim/culprit.

Do nothing, especially if you're drunk or cross, and hopefully in the morning she will realise she's been silly and will say sorry. That's the plan anyway.

Hmm. more to it than that. either you're not telling us, or shes not telling you. I'd go for the 'i dont want to start the new year with you in the spare room' and give her a hug. Either you'll get a shag out of it, OR you'll know you've got real problems.

I'd just like to point out that she has probably seen the banner already, in which case you are in even more trouble whether you leave it up or not!

p.s. Happy New Year party

What was 'x', or in what context is your opinion 'x'?

Is it rude? wink

Does it involve any of the following?

Jools Holland
New Year's Resolutions
Cars
Crunchy Credit
Pyjamas
Mother-in-Law's
Football
Sex
Xmas Presents
Gordon Brown
Banners

?
