I need to replace an item lost in a house fire, and haven't been able to do so, despite it being superficially very simple to do so. I want this very specific item, not a substitute, secondhand is acceptable.

So.....

It is a stovetop kettle made by M. Kamenstein that is in the shape of a lion. It has a lion's head around the spout, and is a sort of beigy yellow colour. I bought it in Switzerland. You can get cat & cow versions of this kettle, and a chicken for that matter, but I want the lion.

I've used the usual search engines, if anybody can point me toward one being sold it would be very much appreciated.

Thank you.

I had a look round but could only find the cow kettle. I assume that the item is about 15 years old so most places won't have it in stock. All I can suggest is keeping an eye on eBay and Amazon.

I contacted them some years ago and basically said they couldn't help. The address was on the box (which I still have).

I've tried eBay but no luck (so far). If anybody can find one I will make it monetarily worth their while.

Shopkeeper " MARGRIT, MARGRIT!"

Distant female voice " Yes"

Shopkeeper " There's a man up here, says have we got a stovetop kettle made by M. Kamenstein that is in the shape of a lion. It has a lion's head around the spout, and is a sort of beigy yellow colour."

Distant Female voice " No"........ " We've got one in the shape of a cow"

Shopkeeper " She says we've got one in the shape of a cow"

Customer " No, I want a lion"

Shopkeeper " He says he wants a lion"

Distant female voice " We've got a beigey yellow one in the shape of a chicken"

Shopkeeper " She says we've got a beigey yellow one in the shape of a chicken"

Customer " No it has to be a lion"

Shopkeeper " He says it has to be a lion"

Distant female voice " Will a cat one do?"

Shopkeeper " She says will a cat one do?"

Customer Is it a fierce cat that looks like a lion ?"

Shopkeeper "No, but it could be mistaken for one in very dim light"

Customer " OK, I'll take that one then"

Sorry, but anyone else noting the irony that a stovetop kettle was lost in a housefire, yet the cardboard box it came in seems to hae survived!? laugh

The stove started the fire, which destroyed the kettle, but it was extinguished before it reached the loft where the box was...?

Or you have 'kettle' and 'box' confused and put the kettle in the loft and tried to boil water in the box...?

The box was in the detached garage, so it survived.

But anyway, can anybody help, without the smart alec comments?

Life is awfully dull otherwise. Had I had a link to the elusive product I would have course posted it.

I would guess with that attitude shining through that the number of people willing to spend their time and effort on helping has just greatly diminished.

There's also an elephant one... and a merry go round one..

Only thing I can suggest, which you've probably already done is to set up a saved search on fleabay, for the whole of ebay (not just UK, as the product is from a US company) and get it to tell you when anything is listed with the word Kamenstein in either the title or description.. Of course Kamenstein might not be mentioned, so you might need another one, for "lion kettle" or something as general as poss. but without getting too much dross..

Maybe trying contacting a couple of the current sellers and past sellers on ebay who are based in the US of A and see if they can help you source one?

Where did you buy it in Switzerland? If it is in the Zürich area I could stop by the shop.

OP, I am going to make it my life's work now to find each and every one of these kettles. I'm off to Switzerland for 10 days of work in three weeks time, to Friborg which is not far from where you bought yours all them years ago.
