I don’t suppose anyone knows any decent solicitors that can help.

Had car taken from us roadside and a €750 fine, license and log book taken. We could really do with some legal help
Must be Le Mans week coming up hehe

Sorry - but on a practical note - you may well have legal cover included in any AA/RAC policies you have - the RAC legal guys really helped me out a few years ago, much better and higher level or service than I expected from a good motoring expert solicitor, none of it billable to me.

Ok the 750€ is not a fine, it's a deposit against the fine that the driver will receive at a later hearing. The licence will be sent back to DVLA and the driver will eventually get it back, and as the car was confiscated, it was being driven at least 50 kph over the limit so, not a misjudgement, and sadly yes, the driver definitely needs legal representation.

I know a few people who have had their license taken, and myself twice, with promise of return. On each occasion it's not been returned and a duplicate has been applied for from the DVLA.

Has anyone actually had a license returned?

My brother in law received his licence back after a bit of high speed hi-jinks in the Hautes-Alpes après ski a few years ago. But that was a licence. If you have a license it's probably American so DVLA wouldn't be involved.......whistlebiggrin

Sorry. I blame spellchecker, I'm forever having to backspace when it's changed what I've typed, I missed that one twice.

There won’t be many Gendarmes on the Peage routes just now. They’ve all been re-assigned to riot duty on mega overtime.
